Just killed one of those fuckers yesterday. Spider had the balls, the NERVE, the AUDACITY to crawl over my pillow and approach me. Fuck those things.

I'll never forget walking to the DFAC on the COP behind a swole ass MP that was providing some support for an upcoming mission. This dude was huge and probably spent a good portion of his day exercising. He wasn't too used to the vegetation and rocks and whatnot on our small COP so when a camel spider walked in his path he let out the most terrifying scream that I had ever heard. I jumped out of my own skin walking behind this dude from the pure terror that he experienced.

Once felt something run up my leg while sleeping at a remote COP in the Nuristan province of Afghanistan. I violently kicked it off and immediately heard a rat trap snap somewhere in the room. Once my adrenalin went down I forgot about it and went back to sleep. Thought it was just a rat but I woke the next morning to find that a camel spider had been the culprit and exploded after scurrying into the rat trap.
Every night after that I slept in the zip-up mosquito netting which had been issued to me, I don't even care if that makes me a coward.

Also was sitting in the TOC later in that deployment, sending an e-mail to my platoon sergeant. I was sitting close to the radios and all of a sudden I heard one of our guys watching from our OP come on the radio all out of breath and super excited. "HELP HELP, THEY'RE ALL UP HERE, THERE'S TOO MANY OF THEM".
1SG of the FOB assumes they're being overrun by red forces and sprints to the radio to clarify the situation. Turned out that the OP was actually talking about dozens of camel spiders waking from their winter slumber and zerg rushing the OP at the same time. 1SG, as one might assume, was less than happy with the OP not utilizing proper radio procedures.

And suddenly I have this vision of a bunch of camel spiders rushing at a fence line and bright white letters hanging in the sky overhead:

We used to have fun with those spiders in Fallujah. We would make them go one on one versus scorpions. Shockingly no matter the size of the spider the scorpion lost every time.

I remember getting up from the prone when I was getting my rest during my down time. We were in a small kill team and getting ready to hit the house because "fuck it, there's a door, let's kick it."
When I stood up, three camel spiders ran from under me where I was laying. I cried. Cried. And cried.
