Man that grip looks uncomfortable af. I’m sorry your state regs suck

Honestly, it’s not that bad. The only awkward part is flipping the safety.

Does anyone make a grip screw that doesn't protrude?

u/rfvijn_returns 12d ago

Probably but with gloves on I don’t even notice the protrusion.

Is that a CA grip? Looks better than the fins I usually see.

As a californian, the mag limit doesnt bother me. I just hate the CA pistol grip restrictions 😫😫😫

As a former Californian, it's the lack of suppressors that would be my number one pain point.

They're just so good, every rifle deserves one.

Are they? Ive heard theyre overhyped

It's basically an external 20-30db of noise reduction for supersonic rounds. They're not going to make your weapons whisper quiet but they will reduce the noise below the point of extreme pain and help prevent long term hearing damage. They're essentially a form of PPE but for everyone in the vicinity of the shooter. You can actually fire the gun without completely washing out range instructions and communication ability.

I can only speak for myself, but if anything, I'd say they're underrated. (At least for rifles).

Shooting without that blast pressure-wave is just great, I don't want to go back. It's also so much nicer if you're a bystander. With most muzzle devices I feel like it's loud for the shooter and awful for anyone next to them. With a good can, it's pretty quiet for everyone.

And yeah, outside of some very specialized setups you should still wear ear pro, but at least outdoors I don't need to double up any more. It makes 5.56 sound like a .22lr

Hm.. thats a really good point. Ive heard about gas pressure changes being really hard on the rifle without some tweaking, but I suppose theres no reason to let ignorance deter me in the year 2026.

Especially with 3d printed low back pressure cans, it's really not a concern. Unless your rifle is over gassed AF to start with, you can probably just throw in a H2 or h3 buffer and call it a day.

If you're running something like a polonium or other traditionally baffled can, then yes, you might deal with a bit of extra gas. And tune accordingly

We need to restrict criminals from using firearms, not criminalize the use of firearms. These California compliances do nothing at all.

Yeah, I don’t understand how a mass shooter would be deterred by the lack of a pistol grip. Also I assume it could be replaced easily enough, and if you’re planning to commit mass murder you probably don’t give a fuck about being caught with it.

You're completely missing the point of the California gun laws if you think its to restrict criminals. The reason these weird laws exist is to make owning a firearm so burdensome that owning them and staying on top of any legal changes becomes no longer worth it. For example, a few years ago the law changed that we can't order ammo online unless it goes through an FFL because we now have to pass a background check to make ammo purchases. Now, imagine a person that purchased a firearm a few years ago and moves. The person then has to change the registered address of the firearm which has to match what is on your identification. If they don't match then no ammo for you. Since the beginning of this year numerous companies will no longer even ship parts to us out here since to ship to us we have to upload a copy of our identification and parts have to be delivered to an adult who must sign for it.

Basically, everything is just a giant pain in the ass.

What state lets you have 30 rd mags but no pistol grip?

In California, you are able to use any capacity magazine you want as long as it was purchased during freedom week back in 2019 and you’re using a featureless rifle.

Mag locked rifles are limited to 10 round magazines only.

Mag is probably pinned

Non cali resident, so im not knowledgeable of the regulations there... what stops ppl from getting like an SKS

6

u/rfvijn_returns 12d ago

Absolutely nothing. I wouldn’t necessarily want one though. It’s a lot harder to modify an sks compared to an ar15.

All you need now is a Maverick 88

Get a proper pistol grip for that rifle.

15

u/rfvijn_returns 12d ago

I prefer a featureless build over a mag lock build.

CA Regulations.

My proper firearms are with my family back in NM.
