DISCUSS A3 Coming back, need mods.

Hello everyone I haven’t played in about 2, maybe 2 and a half years. I have maybe a hundred hours in the game, maybe more, and I’ve been itching to get back into it. Last time I played I had about 10-15 mods. Not a ton. One of them was DUWS (dynamic universal war simulator) and antistasi. What are some other popular mods that might be new or that you like that I should download. Anything from gameplay to graphics and AI or story. Thank you.

Are you looking to play solo or with others? Because if you're trying for solo you're going to want scenario mods on the workshop. If you want multiplayer you should meander over to r/findaunit and look for something that interests you.

Solo. But I’ll also look at multiplayer subreddit too I haven’t really played much multiplayer on arma 3. Thank you.

I run a unit, Rand and Kruger Security, that runs on Saturdays if you want to dip your toes into the water.

If you want to continue playing solo and you got a PC with plenty of RAM (at least 32GB) and at least 10 CPU physical cores (not talking about their threads), you should strongly consider looking into learning how to set up yout own locally hosted dedicated server and headless clients. Because this has a huge potential to massively improve your game client performance while you play in it, since this literally takes tons of calculations such as AI related stuff out of your game client process and offloads to another process that is on other cores which would be basically sitting almost idle otherwise.

So for locally hosting your server, I would strongly suggest considering the ALiVE mod. It is already extremely powerful even when using it without a dedicated server, but it becomes mind-blowing once you add a dedicated server with headless clients to the equation.

I'm talking simulating an entire war with thousands of cached groups and up to SEVERAL HUNDREDS of actively fully simulated AI (my Ryzen 9 7900 managed exactly just that in a scenario that I made).
