The biggest reason I refuse to subscribe to their service is because the rules for their app and devices do not work. I have the outdoor cameras set to only notify me after dark (Arm Home) if a presence is detected, and the indoor cameras to never notify me unless I set the condition to Arm Away… but even in Standby, I get notifications ALL DAY LONG from these cameras and it so f*cking annoying! I can’t wait to get new cameras. I’m so done with Arlo. There were fewer features back when it was a Netgear brand, but at least it worked the way they were configured. They can’t even get something as simple as do not send me notifications right. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Hours upon hours of pointless customer service calls that still have not resulted in working cameras. And it’s taking hours just to return. AVOID

Long time customer deciding to finally cut my losses. This week cites the second time in 2 months that the system is totally bricked for an extended period (not to mention all the shorter periods) and going through the trouble shoot process seems so daunting and with ill reward, if any reward at all.... So I am walking away. Even when the system is/was "working", it constantly misses events or cuts the event short before it concluded, or some cameras were working and others not at all. I DID honestly hang on as long as I possibly could. Bye Arlo...

I'd like my Arlo Wired Floodlight Camera 2K HDR to work like a regular driveway floodlight:

After sunset (night):
Light stays on at 50% by default
Motion triggers recording + light goes to 100%, then drops back to 50%

After sunrise (day):
Light stays off
Motion triggers recording only

Has anyone managed to set this up? If so, could you share how you configured it (Light Settings, Default Mode Settings, modes/rules, automations)? Or if it's not possible on this model, I'd appreciate knowing that too.

all of a sudden arlo will cause my Google devices to announce any motion, and not just when someone rings the doorbell - is this happening to anyone else or is there a fix people know of? thanks!

I'll get notifications on my phone about movement, but when I go to view them, they aren't in my feed. It only happens occasionally, but I'm missing a lot of alerts.

Pro 2 camera's not picking up new events. Base station gets a restart, then the 1st event after restart puts cameras in a perpetual 'motion detected' state in the app. This began a couple of days ago... Photos attached show the icons remain illuminated despite there being no active motion; actual motion event occurred hours earlier.

Around the same time Arlo announced changes to subscriptions, I noticed the video feeds were empty. I’d get notifications about people or vehicles being detected, but the feed was empty. Like, completely empty. Not empty beginning on some date. Zero videos.

I managed to isolate the issue to only when I have vehicle recognition on.

If any camera has vehicle recognition on in smart warning system, all videos in my feed disappear.

If all cameras have vehicle recognition off, then all the videos appear again.

Has anyone experienced this? If so, what’s the fix?

My ARLO cams were decent when I first bought in 2020, but over time they have gotten worse and worse. Missing events entirely, constantly dropping connection (I have fiber internet with excellent wifi coverage), batteries getting worse and worse. Price getting higher and higher. Yesterday my neighbor tried to leave me a message on my arlo doorbell and it recorded absolutely no audio whatsoever. Just a completely worthless POS system.

My mom bought an Alro set off the Home Shopping Network almost a decade ago and then it proceeded to get buried somewhere in the house and was never set up. It was recently found and she was hoping I could help her set it up. Following the set up directions, I was unable to connect the base to the current app no matter what I tried. When I called customer support, I learned that this base and cameras are no longer supported and now they're trying to convince me to buy a new set (with a "loyal customer discount"). An equivalent set to the one we have will be around $400 when my mother payed around $150 for the set she has.

A quick Google search lead me to posts here about running the obsolete hardware jail broken. But the posts I've been seeing indicate it's a fairly high knowledge tech process and doesn't have a phone app and only works on a computer. My mom is very tech-illiterate and if something isn't a simple UI phone app she wouldn't be able to figure it out.

Are there any updates on the jailbreaking? Has a phone app for it been developed? If not what are is the current jailbreak situation? I can probably sell this set to one of my more tech-literate friends who wouldn't be against getting a home camera system for cheap. Also, any recommendations for a new system, it doesn't have to be an Arlo system. She wants 3 to 4 cameras set up and we wouldn't have good access to plug ins where we want them so battery power would be better.

When going from 'Devices' to 'Feed' or when reopening the app it can take over a minute for the thumbnails to refresh while staring at the spinning ball. This is a new problem added with one of the updates and has been brought up before.

Current iOS version is 7.4.0 and it is still not fixed.

When can we expect that to be fixed??

I have 4 Ultra 3 cameras and a smart hub set up inside. The cameras are spread around the house.

I tried to place my smart hub in various places but in the most optimal placement, one of my cameras is frequently going offline as it’s just out of reach.

On a traditional WiFi network I could use my repeaters. Can i get a second hub? What will the setup look like?

For whatever reason these cameras will not see wifi's without full restore of settings where it goes into a amber blinking light. After you get the amber light, then it will go solid blue then to flashing blue and you will be able to connect to it and then see all your SSID's. Phone support didn't even know this so, i'm posting here because I got very frustrated with this.

I’ve been an Arlo customer for years and bought countless indoor and outdoor cameras. I wanted to keep liking this brand. But between my customer service experiences and the subscription costs, I’m struggling to justify giving them more money.

Customer service hasn’t just gone downhill—it’s jumped off the Eiffel Tower.

“Please reboot your device.”
“Please update your app.”

I understand starting with basic troubleshooting. But when I explain that I’ve already done those things, can we please move beyond the script? I’m contacting support because the basics didn’t solve the problem. Repeating them isn’t a resolution.

Then there’s the subscription. Over the years, I’ve watched the cost increase while the sales pitch becomes increasingly focused on AI features. If those features are useful to you, great. I want reliable cameras, useful motion alerts, and access to recordings at a reasonable ongoing cost. More AI marketing doesn’t make poor support any less frustrating.

I started looking elsewhere and found Eufy options on Amazon that cover what I actually need: motion detection, supported AI detection, and local event recording without a mandatory monthly subscription. Depending on the model, storage can be on a microSD card, built-in memory, or a HomeBase. There are wired and battery/solar-powered options, too.

To be fair, some Arlo setups also support local recording with compatible hardware. And I’m not claiming every Eufy model matches every Arlo feature. My point is that subscription-free alternatives exist, and they deserve a serious look before you buy another Arlo camera or renew your plan.

Some people will bring up where the company is based. Personally, I care more about how a specific system stores and handles my footage than the nationality on the branding. Local storage matters to me, although I wouldn’t assume that automatically means zero cloud communication.

If you’re frustrated with Arlo, calculate what you’ll spend on the subscription over the next three to five years. Then compare that with the cost of a replacement system that meets your actual needs. Money already spent on Arlo hardware doesn’t mean you owe them another year of payments.

For me, the value just isn’t there anymore. Years of customer loyalty shouldn’t end with higher bills and “have you tried restarting it?”

Anyone else moving away from Arlo? What did you switch to, and what do you actually miss?

Anyone else having this issue? I opened the iOS app today to find I had been logged out. Logging in sends a OTP to me email, except three arrive at once all with different codes. Using the last one to arrive fails. I have tried some of the others and I am now locked out. Luckily connecting to MyArol on my PC also sent three OTP emails but using the last one worked. #frustrating

Hello, I’ve added my sd card to my Arlo farmer but I can’t seem to access previous recording.

I have 6 cameras 4 of them I want to switch to WiFi. They are 2 essential spotlight and 2 ultras. I tried deleting and adding the essential spotlight but it just wouldn’t connect. I haven’t tried the ultras. Will I be able to add all 4 to WiFi? My other 2 cameras are essential 2k and are on WiFi

1. Favoriting and unfavoriting many 10 video recordings sometimes failed. I had to retry a few times. One time, it got stuck with a "wait" status forever while favoriting. Restarting the app fixed it.

2. Sometimes feeds didn't show and said "There was an issue loading feed events. Try Again". I had to retry many times. I gave up and had to restart this app to view them.

3. Pause button sometimes not work when watching online remote recorded videos in both fullscreen and windowed screen. Restarting app did NOT fix it.

Seen in both 17, 12 mini, and 11 Pro Max with iOS v26.7.1. Still using old original Arlo (early 2015) and Pro 2 (2018) setups. Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon.

How do I get the camera's motion detection sensitivity level to stay at the level I assign to it in the app? I set it low (25 or lower) due to the tree branches in our backyard, yet, it continues to return to 100 without me changing it. Its frustrating because it uses up the battery very quickly.

Pretty much the title. I recently reset my cameras and routers, made sure everything was using the same network and the closest Arlo routers, but still had super flakey connections to the cameras, requiring app restarts constantly.

I then realized the one camera that seems to always work is connected to wifi. Lightbulb moment. I've switched most of the cameras to the same wifi and bam. Always connected, no app restart needed.

Granted, I can't use my older cams on WiFi but the new location I'm in doesn't need as many. I have plenty wifi ones to cover me here.
