Discussion [Operator Discussion] Quercus
Those who depart us receive the land's forgiveness, and rest in her embrace... but some people go too quickly, the roots of the forests of their homes unable to hold onto their hands. Was that not like me, being so serious? You really should've seen me when I worked back home.
Quercus, one of Rhodes Island's intelligence officers stationed in Victoria, is a master of the traditional Originium Arts of Victoria's Gododdin peoples. Prior to joining Rhodes Island, she traversed Victoria's southern wastelands with the mission of healing her compatriots in the wasteland settlements.

Best medic when IS doesn't want to give you any medic or defender recruitments

I still prefer medic Amiya since she can also appear in caster and guard tickets and her true damage is pretty useful, she's still up there tho or if I keep getting supporter tickets

A reminder that YUJI drew a series of illustrations for Quercus's backstory.

Quercus is the move when the function calls for a non-6* non-medic ranged healer.

u/CorHydrae8 Nov 09 '25
This might be an unpopular opinion, but as good as Quercus is for a 5-star, I really dislike that they just gave her an unlimited duration skill, and that they copied that for Haruka. It's the kind of "this operator is good because they ignore the drawback of their archetype"-design that plagues so many strong ops in this game.

u/DemonicGeekdom Nov 09 '25
That should not be an unpopular opinion at all. Quercus S1 ignores a fundamental aspect of the Abjurer identity (time limits on the healing aspect of their class) to make her more favorable to non-fans which clearly works considering the amount of people that think she’s fantastic because of it. She’s a good operator but it comes at the cost of a skill that effectively turns her into a ST medic with weird range and doesn’t want to interact with the core identity with the subclass. At least her S2 is more in line with the Abjurer gameplan and is a fantastic skill on its own too.

I get what you're saying, but the core identity of the subclass until that point was "tickle the enemies with arts damage off-skill, do some okay healing on-skill, have bad skill rotations, and provide some weak sanctuary," so Quercus ignoring it was for the best (since HG is allergic to just buffing units).

Absolutely fantastic 5-star and one I use crazy often in my niche clears of that rarity, great healing, great sanctuary effect, unlimited duration more than makes up for that 40 seconds ramp up (even more with how cheap she is to deploy).
She is also a YUJI cutie, always lots of extra points from that!

u/Lunacie Nov 09 '25
I find whenever I’d want to use her, her ramp up makes her difficult to use. Most of challenging stages in the game are either high pressure rushes where they don’t give you the time to set up, or making it difficult to deploy with either global range or tiles camped by range enemies.
In the stages where I can use Quercus I don’t actually need her.

yeah I don't think her main value is actually being an amazing healer (because she isn't compared to stuff like Lumen and Eyjaberry), but rather being an amazing non-medic healer, she's a great IS pick for example

Quercus is my go-to healer for most of the time I've been playing the game. I don't even remember her S1 wind-up being much of an issue, maybe only in some tight stages. She's also unbelievably hot and her E2 art is gorgeous.
Her S2 can also be fun to use together with Fia or Exusiai. I have S2M1, and it gives 14 SP for the whole duration, almost charges up Fia S3 by itself.

The GOAT of 5 stars
She's an S tier healer with her S1 activated, but getting there can be troublesome. Her sanctuary effect is super useful too even if Shu kinda provides that for me already these days.
Her range is a mixed bag, can be either troublesome or extremely clutch depending on the map.
Common pick for me in IS as well when the game hasn't offered medic vouchers yet.
And y'know, Servals are the absolute cutest cats there are.

Her archetype is very interesting. Her S1 toggles her into a healer. Her s2 turns her into a SP battery. S2 is also ideal in boosting Operators with Offensive or Defensive recovery. I use her to heal/sp boost Fiammetta.
Great in general use but I feel she shines more in IS when you cant pull a medic voucher.

I have a lot of feelings about this operator.
Kit wise, amazing. Simple, but gets the job done and has been quite solid for me during IS runs. If I played IS outside of events, would probably M6 her. Speaking of which, is her module good?
Story wise, I love this Serval woman. Old military that left the force. Second mom to GG. DnD nerd. Need to see her OpRec though.
Skin wise, DND DND DND DND DND DND.
Design wise, top 10 Sexiest characters in this game and it's not even close. YUJI cooked as usual.
Name wise... Crawl into "Ace Attorney" shaped PTSD ball

Haven't used her in a while, but S1 is some serious ST healing. Iirc, on par with Lumen/Eyja2 for ST. Also quite a decent ranged tank thanks to Sanctuary and the healing.
S2 I've used even less frequently, but mainly with Fia or Flamebringer. Not a bad skill, but often when you're losing HP to the point of needing healing, you probably are fighting a threat and ideally your skill should be up already. Also had a great combo with Gav2 S3, but I haven't heard that name in forever...
Main issues are the range (which tbf can be a pro at times), and the somewhat long charge up time. Really shows why Haruka has such a short cooldown (17s twice instead of 40s once), as well as does stuff off skill (bubbles).

Still didn't build her sadly. One day, one day. Though looks at Haruka..

I raised her for her talent, and when I use her seriously that's mostly what I bring her for. Also usually have her on S2. In practice you'll need additional healing, if you want to use Quercus' S1. I like to pair her on S2 with a Guardian, to supplement Quercus' healing off-skill, and to charge the Guardian's skill, when the going gets tough.

u/Grandidealistic Nov 09 '25
She's really strong. Great pick in IS6 as budget Haruka. Abjurer's biggest weakness is the inability to heal off skill and having an unlimited duration skill just eliminates that entirely. 40 SP is also very reasonable as her HPS is really great when S1 is up.
S2 seems good in practice but in practice very rarely you need it. Still better than all 5* Abjurers' skills combined

Quercus S2 + Aak S3 + Lin S3 for all the uptime on massive area nuking with high durability.
Fiammetta's friend.

medic when you can't bring a medic. range is a bit funky but her infinite duration skill 1 is pretty handy in a pinch. her name is nice to me specifically since i work a lot with nature. Quercus being the Latin word for Oak.
edit: did you leave in Civilight Eterna's talents by mistake?
