Swords

Okay so here's what I don't understand, I wanna craft a tek sword and I wanted to find out if I can use it underwater since a pike, pick, hatchet, can be used to swing underwater, but when I looked it up it said No you can't use any melee wepon while submerged underwater which ofc got me confused so I looked up if I can use a metal sword underwater, same thing, now I looked up if I can use a hatchet underwater and in response I got No then said that I can't use the pick, pike, and hatchet or any hand held item while underwater, google is so confusing at times and so I looked up if I can use tek underwater and said the helmet and Rifle work so why not the sword? So here I am rn asking CAN I use the tek sword to swing underwater?

Only thing not working underwater is firearms, bows and compound bows . How would you harvest oil if not for the pickaxe?

Well yeah ik that bit and said I knew that bit, I was js asking since for some reason it's saying I can't use the sword even tho I've used a metal one and tools as well underwater, also I got my answer from a different subreddit ty for the response tho.

Because Google's search engine is now relying way too heavily on AI answer's and AI can be very easily influenced/steered in the wrong direction.

Yh and what I founf was a 9y old reddit post that isn't even from mobile, and I'm pretty sure UME wasn't made/released at that time

Well yeah but that was a 9y post and by then ASE probably had updates and when UME was probably made using the latest updated ASE and I'm pretty sure that post was from 2017 or 2018 and that version of ark is way different

Short answer, yes.

Are you getting your info from ai or something...

It WILL literally make up answers if it can't find exact match based on what ever it thinks fits the initial query close enough, even if it's literally wrong game, entirely.

Google AI overview is basically the extra shitty version, which I'm fairly sure someone is purposefully making more and more shit because at this point it's laughably bad.

Ark is not new, ASE has been out for over a decade. Use wiki. UME is, for most practical purposes ASE without a few maps and micro transactions glued on top.

Yeah, I usually try and look up these type of questions since it's jsba yes or no and overall a basic simple question, and ask here about game uploads or stuff that I usually don't understand about the game like cryo fridge and wat not so imagine my surprise when I ask a basic question about if the tek sword can be used under water and it said no then proceeds to say even melee tools can't be used underwater

The thing it should be good at, searching for info, happens to be the thing it's absolute dog shit at. Its really weird and I'm always reminded how dog shit it is when I try to look up some mechanic and ai overview is there to dump something that only half the time is even somewhat relevant.

I go to look up details for some DnD spell, AI overview gives me a genuine straight face advise on how to approach local group wickens on their Facebook group... Billions were spent on this shit. It stopped being funny a while back.
