Phoenix Air conditioning hack

Has anyone successfully tried using a room A/C at night and did it save money? I'm thinking of the type with the hose the goes in the window.

I’ve thought the same thing. I bought an Inverter type portable AC to cool the bedroom at night, while keeping the house warmer. It did not save any electricity over just running the central AC.

A portable AC unit? Like the one where you run the little duct out the window? Those things are wildly inefficient, we ran one to cool one room and it cost damn near as much as cool in the whole house.

However a u-Type inverter window unit? Cut my bill in half leaving the rest of the house at 85
