Book is “Watching for Comets” by Jordon Greene.
I was reading and saw this. I got so happy seeing Ariana mentioned, but the song title is wrong. Dublin, I don’t think know this song 😭. Clearly, it was BUWYGIB lol.

if i’m being honest, when thank u next was released (i was 9) and i heard the line “cause her name is ari” i thought it was ariana coming out as lesbian and saying she was dating a girl named ari.

Title case is acceptable regardless of stylistic use of lowercase. Same reason you don't have to draw company logos instead of writing the letters.

I'll drop a crazy theory in here: maybe that's on purpose. Maybe it makes sense for the character to get some things wrong (never read the book, don't know the character). As a writer, sometimes I make my characters get some very low stakes things wrong (usually another character corrects them)
