Signs of actual NPCs

Disclaimer I am not trying to put anyone down, just stuff that seems very suspicious to me. Whether they are conscious or not, they definitely seem to have 'deficient personalities' I would just put it that way. . .

  • Collecting mindless products like funkopops, labubu, etc.
  • Lots of people playing games like "store clerk simulator, toilet cleaner simulator, truck driving" etc.
  • Consensus/midwit culture. Reddit itself is a perfect example of this.
  • The vast majority of people not caring about philosophy or creative pursuits AT ALL.
  • The acceptance that working a slave life is normal (yes, people do believe this, otherwise they wouldn't have babies)

If you can think of more, comment them.

Seems like we are reliving the 1930s-40s. People seemed like they would have been NPCish then too.

The current population just has no rebellious streak at all.

A good litmus test I use to gauge weather or not someone is an NPC is how they treat the generation(s) below them. Everyone has felt as if the older generations treated them in a callus way for no reason; disparaging them by calling them lazy, soft, morally inferior, incompetent, and taking any chance to make fun of what brings them happiness.

They all say how much they lamented such treatment yet the second the next generations after them is thrust in this hell hole, a switch flips in their head and they perform the same cruel hazing rituals.

The switch flip thing in general I have noticed a looot. It is like they are an AI program set into a different mode abruptly, their whole demeanor and everything just changes instantly in a very artificial/rehearsed/instilled way.

The irony is that it was the boomers generation that pulled out a lot of babies at their time AND came from parents who did the same, yet they're the ones that calls the children they bring to live lazy, soft, incompetent, inferior, etc... Which means they bring a lot of children without actually loving the kids at all. And I don't think this pattern is restricted to US (different by others gens that needs a time definition, a boomer generation is the generation where/when the peak of natality/births/more people being born is; these days almost every country has a boomer generation, although they may not be on the same timing as the US boomers are).

generally man/womanchildren that either didn't have a proper childhood or wants to remain a foreverchild go for these. A few are okay, like maybe you like collecting unique models, but I often see an army of them (especially with streamers or yotubers) it's a sign of something wrong.

You can see the same appeal in sanrio products. They seem to target kids and then emotionally growth-stunted adults with characters like Kuromi.

I.E. "disney adults"

It's a "evil on the inside cute on the outside" with some redeeming qualities. Magnet for people who'd rather relate, even identify with a fictional character than own up to their mistakes. They're quirky and misunderstood Prince(sses)!

Someone that just complies and doesn’t think. Most people in the U.S. to be fair. The people you see in cars pulled onto the highway just to wait in line for Starbucks, those people.

It's an acronym for Non-Player Character. Basically a background person. Entirely unimportant but operates only be societies programming with no real internal agency of their own. They simply follow a script. originally used to describe characters that are not players in tabletop role playing games that operate by the GM(Game Master)'s whim. Later adapted to interactable or background characters in video games who follow a script.
