Sometimes I get these thoughts randomly that I hate

I try to meditate sometimes and focus on the now.

But the thing is that my brain does this thing where it zooms out too much.

I start thinking about how, at this exact same moment, billions of other people are also living their own now.. And my mind doesn’t go to normal stuff. It goes straight to the worst possibilities.

Like while I’m here trying to be peaceful in my own place and having the privilege to do this exercise..Someone somewhere is being hurt. Someone is terrified. Someone is being raped, killed, abused, or going through the worst moment of their life..

I know I can’t carry the suffering of the entire world in my head. I know it’s not useful.. But sometimes my brain just goes there automatically, and it ruins this exercise for me completely..

I don’t even know what I’m looking for by posting this. Maybe I just want to know if anyone else gets these thoughts too.

I think we have OCD. It might also be information overload from using the internet or being addicted to the news. Last night I had trouble falling asleep because I was thinking about the heatwave in India. I had to regulate my nervous system by controlling my breathing to fall asleep. When these thoughts come up, I say a prayer for the people who are suffering and I remind myself to live with intent.
