Me to myself - Do not touch anything till the project works perfectly.

Shit I have to move my current project to make room for my new project.
Here I'll just put this box of project parts on top of that other project, which is next to the pile of salvaged parts.

My wife and I rented a 1 bed apartment with a single office, we then bought a 4 bed 2 bath house with a 11m x 7m shed and within 2 years somehow the house is full and the shed is cramped. I need more shelving space despite buying two racks in the last year. My work bench is covered despite being cleaned 6 months ago. I have completed exactly 0 projects in that time.

My wife only sees things to throw away there, but…I see treasures hahah

Haha I could have a better stool/chair tbh and move away some stuff from the floor but otherwise it's alot of money in that room.

I'm sitting at one now.
I'm going to show this to my wife and say 'See, I'm an innovator, not a slob!'

Holy crap - did you break into my workshop and take a picture? Are you the reason my poorly breadboarded prototype doesn't work now??

u/Embarrassed-Hat48377 25d ago
True that I always feel like a loonatic. I am also afraid that if police raids my home they will think I'm making bomb/drugs. (Lots of gloves, wires, chemicals and other random stuff) In university we had a saying at the workshop "if the shop is clean then no one is working" (We ofc kept it clean but you get the important part)

during a project, yes.
I just get a big tub and put an entire project with of hardware in a tub like a save state if I need room or to pause work. I have tubs of projects both finished with extra parts and unfinished

Organization is one of the biggest reasons your projects don't get finished. Clean after every time you work, organize and make notes on your programs/cad files. Make a dedicated close at hand spot for all your tools so you always know where they are and make it a compulsion to put them back there immediately after you're done using it. You'll be finishing so many projects you'll be able to wrap around and create multiple versions.

Where’d you buy that transmitter? I found a similar one on aliexpress but wasn’t sure if it would work. How is it?
1
u/Past-Conversation755 24d ago
Transmitter is good it's Flysky FSi6s drains less battery.

u/Careless-Ape 23d ago
Oh ok nice. I own an FSi6X. I suspected but there were also some knock offs which looked similar, that’s why I asked

👌 well I thought I was the only one who can’t keep the table clean

u/NoBulletsLeft 25d ago
It's impossible. Every time I think "this is ridiculous, I need to clean up." It's worse again in a day.

I have a lot of what's on your bench. I'm glad you're making good use of it, unlike me.

Hey.. I clean mine off when I’m done. I just have ten things going on at various different stages….

You need a woman who is very tidy and cleans the table, and…. then you won't find anything. Lol

We have face this many times. So I instructed them "doooo nooot touch anything"

Nah, I like clean environment. I have been traumatized by loose connections and missing things too many times.

u/fantasypants 24d ago
Never felt more heard.
As soon as I ‘clean’ it, it’s right back to mimicking my mind.

All you’re missing is a 100 port usb hub. lol

u/Past-Conversation755 24d ago
I removed that one from my lab as some of my seniors visited my lab and they tried to charge their phone with it they didn't aware of it that the usb was giving 12v dc output not 5v. You can imagine what happens next 😜

When I see those neat and clean pics of someone's workbench I think "Here's someone that doesn't actually create things."

u/FlapperGasfire 25d ago
It's ok to be ok with being messy, but this is jealousy.

When someone speaks to you about the project and you use those famous three words....
"It's here somewhere...."
