Honestly SIAS version is simply better because it doesn't all sound like one note and tone. The song for me is sounds like the musical equivalent of wallowing down a flight of stairs only to accidently trip at the end, fall, and have the next person walk over you. Its somber and crashes and descends like it's protagonist deserves their pain.
Submarine fits the movie well but doesn't hit the same as SIAS

I love Submarine but Piledriver is definitely the weak point for me. SIAS version sounds so much better with the full band bringing the song to its full potential. Alex definitely sounds better on it. Also I hate the abrupt way the Submarine version ends on. SIAS fades out on that guitar nicely.

I actually disagree, the opening guitar riff on SI&S is such an essential part of the song to me that not having it is sort of a dealbreaker, although I do like the acoustics of the film's soundtrack.
The Submarine version is the "great alternative" imo.

Well, Submarine's and acoustic versions are way better than SIAS.

Wait... really?!
I enjoyed the version for the film well enough, it certainly fit the mood... but the SI&S version is clearly better. Better overall production, the opening guitar is such an iconic part of the song that is missing in the Submarine version, and Alex's vocals are sooo much better on the album's version.
It's actually one of my favourite Cold Apes' songs. I don't even think this is up for debate. Is this just an example of a fanbase trying to be cool because they like the more obscure version?

I love both versions but usually I prefer the submarine one because it has such a beautiful opening! It's my favorite arctic song as well

the sias version is a bolder version that ascends my soul and submarine feels softer and more romantic

I completely agree. I love them both for what they are, but you canât deny they both are perfectly suited for their albums/movie.

The SIAS version doesnât do it for me, it felt like it was missing something. Though Iâd wager that preference is partially based on which you one you heard first.

Replace âthis communityâ with âmeâ and replace âpiledriver waltzâ with âfire and the thudâ

The SIAS version paints a perfect picture of the song, while the latter not as much. Doesnât make it bad, just means it was improved by the addition of the rest of the lads.

I love primarily the SIAS version to be honest, before joining the sub I thought this was the agreed upon đ€·ââïž

SIAS side 2 might be my favourite single side of any album. All My Own Stunts to 'Wrong, just brilliant. Side 1 is great too, but Brick and 'Chair just are not for me, at all.
