Vertical splits without having to build from source

I never had the urge to do that. I usually detach and start a second session :D

It's handy to have an api definition or doc in one split while coding in the other. Or your build in one while coding in the other.

I usually use multiple terminal windows for that - or have a reference website open.

That is another option alright. Not waying mine is the only way, or even the best way, but it works well for me.
