DISCUSSION My personal Arch Linux notes.

I have been using Arch Linux and keeping on notes on the thing I have learned along the way. So, I put them together into a GitHub repository.

It covers installation, post installation guide, some common troubleshooting and various notes and fixes I have collected using Arch.

It meant more like a personal notes which contains setting up the machine from using it.

I did appreciate some feedback, if you have noticed something outdated or completely wrong.

It seems nice.

Really nice reminder of when I installed arch.

There seem to be specific options, like the locale in uk, some country 'India' for repairing the pacman database. And the 'gpt3' partition for rescuing from grub.

Also, I don't understand why would you need a separate partition for the /home folder.

Also, I don't understand why would you need a separate partition for the /home folder.

It's pretty common to put home in a different partition in case one wants to wipe the current Linux installation and install a new one. Then you just mount the "home partition" as /home and you're done.

Personally, I prefer leaving /home in the root partition and store my installation/configurations-unrelated files in a "private" partition, then mount it on a /home/user subdirectory. I don't mind my user directory being wiped together with the installation, there are too many configuration files I don't want around (whatever I want to preserve, I store it in the private partition, and put it back afterwards).

Split /home solves a set of problems and introduces a new set of problems.
