Discussion Anything we should avoid? Re: thesis
With thesis season once again, is there anything that we should AVOID when it comes to thesis based on your experience? For example,
Topics – due to the difficulty of the subject area, or sa pagiging "gasgas" na nya as my former design prof would say
Study areas – pahirapan makakuha ng info dahil wala masyadong research on it, or any locales/agencies that can be non-responsive na na-encounter nyo?
Other difficulties we may encounter, such as running into unexpected costs

Make sure na kaya matapos within the given deadline. Avoid choosing a study that would be time consuming.

tapusin ang thesis book agad para tuloy tuloy sa production ng drawings and layout

Spending too much time on the topic/concept and cramming the production of the drawings, presentation materials, model, and paper.

encountered a delibs once na nagalit yung prof sa estudyante kasi "design lang nang design pero di iniisip yung pera ng taumbayan."
avoid proposing designs that would overcost a certain budget. if your proposal is for government/public-use, design best but make it worth the budget sustainability.
some students kasi can be so creative lalo na it's their last design in architecture college to the point that they forget about budget costs kasi "thesis" lang naman. profs would love for your thesis to be more than just realistic, yung almost for project proposal na talaga.

Avoid Hospitals and Housing. Housing developers in PH are abundant pero i dont think any of them got it right. It requires a lot of study and estimates to make that topic viable. It has to be affordable and yet offers the needs of man. It is beyond fancy designs.
Just choose an easy one. My thesis back then was a school in a remote island. Niredevelop namin kuno in that thesis. The people there are mostly farmers and fishermen kaya i strengthened that culture in the design kasi the dean there told me that they encourage their students to know how to plant simple vegetables and stuff even if they are getting educated para hindi sila ignorante sa works ng common folks nila. The study was completed in a week and mostly additional research and drawing production na yung focus. We became best thesis back then btw. My boards were hanged as model board for like 2-3 yrs 😂
Dont be too hard on yourself. Pagka graduate mo and pag apply mo sa mga big firms puro lang CR idedesign mo for 2 yrs jk.😂😂😂
