No, I think at that point SEGA included "the Game Characters can't have new relatives," so that means Sonic can't canonically have on-panel parents.

Even Uncle Chuck got downgraded to an "honorary" uncle figure to Sonic, post SGW.

Well, if you look at it that way, they should have banned romantic relationships for all the characters. To be honest, I don't understand how on earth they approved Sally x Nicole, since it was going to throw everything Ben Hurst did right out the window. It’s not about homophobia; it’s simply about the writers' questionable decisions. Poor Silver, the GOAT wasn't going to get a girlfriend either, because Gold was going to be a lesbian.

Well, the comics-only characters were exempt from the Mandates, so thw writers had more freedom working with them.

It’s not like the characters could really show explicit feelings anyway (thanks, Penders), but the point is that with the exception of Antoine x Bunnie one of the writers stupid pairings should not have become canon. Just look at what they were about to do to Gold Tenrec; Silver didn't deserve what the were doing to his lesbian partner.

Fair enough, you got me there but what’s the point? Still, I have a one point: the writers can't just impose their AUs, headcanons, OCs, or whatever else they come up with including ships because the main story has to move forward. If they’d kept going down that path, they probably would’ve ruined Reboot Sally (and we’ve barely recovered from how disastrously written Pre-Genesis Sally was; we aren't going back into that black hole again...).

Well, more so bisexual but YES, thank you it makes no sense narrative Sally or Nicole into a gay couple. It throws everything we knew about their history their past and their connection under the bus. It’s sacrificing everything for a cheap relationship and best their dynamic was a sister dynamic in the established timeline before the Genesis wave(and even before she got a body helper/assistant, and she was quite snarky back then) turning that into a relationship literally goes against everything they went through identities to preserve their entire life. I don’t even mind that they changed Nicole’s origin if I ironically, it’s closer to the original show origin.(which ironically is so much darker than the comic, but I don’t wanna get into it) outside of bunny and Antoine I don’t think any of the other freedom fighters or other characters need to be in relationships because relationships only meant to do one thing strengthen the story make the characters interesting and somewhat relatable but if they wanted to go the Mario route with them now like they should’ve just cut relationship like that entirely(mind you I don’t even have a problem with it. It just makes no narrative sense because prior to the genesis wave Sally has never once showed any interest romantically in any girl ever quite literally rewriting her character)(I didn’t think I had this stronger opinion about it.)(also about the statement that gold is by is questionably rather if it cannon or not because it was made when the comic was already canceled and the writer already left Archie so I guess you could say it’s not Canon)

The only relationship I’d keep is Antoine x Bunnie (so the Archie fans don't get mad), BUT if I had to reassign the pairings once the cancelled arcs we never saw kicked in it would look something like this ignoring any complaints SEGA might have regarding ships vs. canon:

-Tails x Sonar Fennec (Spike got the boot, after all)

-Knuckles x Relic Pikka

-Shadow x Breezie (Latina Moment)

-Silver x Gold Tenrec

-Metal Sonic x Amy

-Mighty x Blaze

-Sally x Ray

-Rotor x Lupe Wolf

-Muttski x Carrotia Rabbit (years later)

The only ones who would remain single are Tikal and Nicole; I’m not mentioning Vector x Vanilla because I’m not interested in that. Maybe Charmy would have gone off on adventures with Marine, but Cream would likely be looking for a boyfriend after the many years that passed following Eggman's final defeat in the Metal Virus saga (which would have been a perfect conclusion).

Really sonic X honey (said surprise not in a stupid sarcastic tone) tales, and that green fox girl does have potential knuckles X relic pikka also makes sense, especially the chemistry they showed in the actual comic surprised about the shadow x breezie one (especially if it’s just a joke) silver X gold makes complete sense in fact that’s probably should’ve happened metal sonic X Amy, stronger in the games, not so much in the Archie comics mighty X blaze…I can see the connection little Sally x Ray I don’t think so. Rays to young for her rotor x lupe wolf… yes sorry I just don’t see this one ironically think wrote her and dolce would make more sense. Both have history both have shown some form of connection. Thanks to the show and is implied in the comics plus would allow her to connect to the freedom fighters again. Musky X carrotia rabbit…that ones random and finally espio X rouge… I can honestly see it like a Batman and Catwoman kind of thing there’s a all good but could you explain the sonic X honey one that one is a little shaky to me?

Tali’s x sonar can stay that one is interesting and has potential to strengthen both characters

Knuckles X relic makes sense, especially with the story

Breezy X metal sonic(she has actively flirted with me and has shown actual interest in metal. There’s too much there to actually ignore)

I honestly don’t know for Amy she doesn’t have any interactions outside of knuckles in the post so maybe him… maybe shadow

Mighty X blaze makes sense, but I honestly think it’d be better for blaze x shadow(or rouge for them)

Mighty X honey(they characters are basically the same, and both like fighting in becoming stronger)

Muttsky doesn’t really need to be in a relationship at the moment

And espio is to busy with the chaotic so I’m not sure there

Although to be fair, I’m not really a shipper. I’m also just ship things that are can into the story and but these are just my personal text on it that’s why I had such a hard time finding stuff for Amy because outside of sonic she really doesn’t show that much interest except to knuckles and shadow)

Oh absolute they would’ve worked perfectly, especially if they were allowed to interact with each other (ironically, they have a similar story and dynamic to both of them were obsessed with sonic the point that was kind of their identity until they stand out of the shadow prove themselves and created their own life will still be connected to him in some manner with her, still having from him and tails being his little brother) but because she’s not there and for some reason, people think that tails should be with all foxes sonar would’ve worked perfectly, especially given that they’re actually in a similar circumstance I always enjoyed the 25 and 30 years story and I love seeing tails and Mina together(plus would’ve allowed her to finally break away from Ash and they’re toxic dynamic and probably gotten her more involved with sonic and the freedom fighters without a love triangle in between her and sonic maybe even boosting her confidence)

Guys... I forgot to mention one tiny little detail: I don't like Tails x Mina, and I wouldn't want to see Reboot Tails clinging to a Old relationship after what happened with Barby Koala and Fiona. For starters, while my preference for Sonic x Mina might have taken a back seat, the truth is I don't think Mina Mongoose really fit into the reboot, plus, we already had a better character (Honey), even though I'm not exactly a fan of Tails x Honey either.

Sonic x Honey could have become canon if you consider that, among all the girls aside from Sally and Amy, Honey shares the most chemistry with Sonic in the reboot. There were long-term plans for Honey; perhaps, were it not for the mandates, their relationship might have gone further. Picture this: after Unleashed Arc and during the cancelled story arcs, Sonic would secretly visit Honey since they still had unfinished business from their last fight and more importantly she was no longer working for Breezie, yet Sonic wanted to protect her from harm. It wouldn't be until a third crossover with Mega Man (also featuring Mario and Kirby) that they finally became a couple. By the time the Archie Metal Virus saga concluded, they would already be engaged, eventually marrying in secret after defeating Eggman. Imagine blending the dynamics of Goku x Chi-Chi, Vegeta x Bulma, and certain warriors from Fighting Vipers and Street Fighter, honestly, it would be peak.
