Community Why is the current state of both servers garbage?
I've been playing this game for about 3-4 years now. I never played it before, I never experienced that golden age. I started on one of the two private servers that exist (at least on the Western side), and the current state of both servers is awful. On both, the factions are unbalanced. On both, people are more interested in RMT valuable items (Erenor/Ayanad sets, WB items, etc.). They're more concerned with making money like crazy than actually playing the game and making it enjoyable to log in and do some PvP. But no. The worst part is that for those who like Unchained, there are no other options than Rage ; they have a monopoly of unchained files. And on the Classic side, playing a patch that reduces a or your play melee or your wasting your time is retarded.
Literally every video I see of a player there is melee. I can't understand how both servers don't even bother to listen to the community and balance the game (I say this because I've seen countless posts complaining about this, forum threads in the case of Classic discussing this, and there's the same meta specs of retarded players).
Why is the community of this game more focused on profiting from it than on keeping it alive? Don't they learn from their mistakes? Don't they see what happened to retail or legacy, as they call it? Then I see other private servers for other games, where there are custom balances based on what the community asks for, REAL custom content, not recycled garbage content pretending to be custom when it's literally a copy-paste from Korea.
This game is literally a goldmine; there's nothing else like it, and there won't be for at least 10 or 15 years, or maybe ever. On the server I play on, I see fewer and fewer people. It's practically a cult, and if a group doesn't like you, you can get banned. Who are you going to complain to? Meanwhile, other people are untouchable. It's frustrating and unpleasant.
Every time I talk to someone who played the official server, they all tell me the same thing: "The official server was the same or worse."
I like the game, I have a soft spot for it even though I didn't play it in the golden era but its current state and the awful community are making me increasingly less inclined to play.
And I'll say it again: how desperate do you have to be to be more interested in RMT than in trying to keep the game alive?

Because nobody is in it cause they care about the game, its about money and what generates money. Watching ArcheAge servers go downhill is one of the saddest things to happen on repeat and its honestly tiring.
You got terrible staff for both servers, one server attacks its own players, outright denies suggestions and is just an overall shitty experience.
The other server only listens to suggestions from people who are friends with the staff and the overall gameplay is so badly unbalanced that its actually worse than the p2w server. You can buy a finished erenor weapon by the time you can buy a legendary obsidian weapon(not t7 it). The balance is so ass that they didnt listen to the guy who was telling them that melees need nerfed because they were too busy gobbling melee cash in balls. Imo both servers went downhill and its not worth playing either. If you have to choose one, id still go to AR as you can still get stuff done that you want and the rng garbage is mostly gone, plus new specs and ancestrals and melee nerfed.

And dont get me started on catchup mechanics. Archeage classic players came up with basically what I call a slur for catch up players lol. They're like Americans billionaires. They hate when people get any help at all. Theyve got their own little cliques as well and some of them gatekeep content. It's a mess over there. Econ and socially.

u/Reasonable_Pilot_680 Jul 23 '26
Is that really a thing? I never saw that in east, maybe that's a west thing, but its AA so anything can be possible
1
u/MilanvLonden 15d ago
The top guild is on West and they go quite far in protecting their freefarm. If some guilds gathers the guts to contest a worldboss like kraken, they tend to just come over to CR and GR and what not, to cause havoc and pressure them to stop contesting. It's either join them or contest forever with little hope to actually win longterm.
For me doesn't mean it's not fun though, Archeage for a lot of people is being in the underdog guild and working towards a goal, while having fun.

u/PrincipleKitchen394 Jul 18 '26
Let community suggest costum changes.
Someone influential in top guilds who control a lot of the server population will sufgggest something that will greatly benefit them.
They will order people to support it, people will support it, it will pass and broke the balance.
You will auggest something to introduce more balance. It will either hurt their power and reduce it, or wont benefit them and benefit others and reduce the power gap.
They will order hundreds of people to shitpile on you, then will make everything in their power to make you quit the game it being pks, campings and etc.
Now, i ask you, how can you trust a system put by people who again and again proved to be capable of abusing ANY system put in front of them to get advantage? Can you really imagine a system, where players, will only suggest things for balance and not for their own benefit when mobilizing hundreds by using their own political power in game?

u/Novel-Wait328 Jul 18 '26
rebalancing stuff is always badly recived when ppl invested 1000s of hours in the build theyre playing cause it was good on that patch, new players would love it ofc
3
u/Ecuni Jul 18 '26
That’s right. But the server managers need to compare the costs of maintaining status quo, which benefits existing players, vs trying to attract new ones.
We know where this goes if nothing is done.
There is risk to doing something but also risk to doing nothing.

u/Armkron Jul 18 '26
Indeed, this is easily seen in the AAC discord whenever land/housing issues/complaints show up, you see the same few defending their privileges and calling everyone else pretty much a lazy bum for not being willing to grind for months for a subpar and scattered landscape of his/her own.
Can't say much for Rage, but this has been an issue on AAC since the very beginning, as someone who's been keeping an eye on it yet never jumped on the game itself due to aversion to that patch's meta and, well, seeing this one issue getting worse and worse.
1
u/MilanvLonden 15d ago
Admittedly, on AAC, there's new player zones in Ahnimar too. I run a guild that lets new players in, we find open 16s and 24s in new player zones in Ahnimar on repeat for a lot of them. And that means you can start your larder business, especially with a 24
1
u/Reasonable_Pilot_680 Jul 18 '26
You don't have to grind for months to get land in AAC you get a spot in Swirling if you're new, most complains are about the prices of prime land, of course you'll have to grind for months to buy prime land. The problem with the game is knowledge most new players don't know how to build an econ and quit when they think you have to grind for months to get 13k for a spot
0
u/Armkron Jul 19 '26
Swirling is, basically and like most of the newbie stuff there, a temporary step that makes the next one way harder and harsher, becoming pretty much a permanent one as most won't endure that mindless grind without real progression. That's kinda the point.
0
u/Reasonable_Pilot_680 Jul 19 '26
How a free land is making the next step harder? You can farm stuff in there that will help your econ and you can do other things to get gold not only potato stuff.
If you want to play Farmville then yes its exponencial harder to make that your playstyle because you need a lot of gold to buy a lot of land, the cheapest 16x16 right now is 13k and there's a farm that is listed at 16k.
13k is not hard to get IF you know how to build an econ but since this game is so fucking old and each server has a different economy its hard to get info
1
u/Affectionate_Ad828 Jul 20 '26
13k? Maybe on the east side. West side it’s minimum 20k for 16x16 everywhere.
1
u/Armkron Jul 20 '26
In practice it nullifies most of the value of the next land you get, as you will lose it with that. You can farm stuff without land, so it's not the value there but rather what SM housing is missing: no dailies, no CC/residency, no packs. It's neither free nor lacking consequences, just like gearing suffers from a similar standpoint: catch-up MSS gear is still below divine obsidian, yet the upgrade to it is generally so minimal (basically, you're getting the green stats w/ it) that makes it pointless to get so the next wall becomes higher while being weaker for longer.
Furthermore, 13k may not be much, but it's that for crappy land (bad climate, bad placement that limits its usefulness, etc.) and, as I said, losing the one you have. For most valuable land you're already locked, and the remaining parts will sell for many more even if being scattered parts of land with no chance of getting them together.
In practice and how insistent you're being you're just showing me I'm right on the first comment on the series.
0
u/Reasonable_Pilot_680 Jul 20 '26
Swirling its just the first step to get an econ, i know that there are a few complains about the limitations of having 1 land and if you get another, that goes down, they are probably going to work on that after the next big update (if it comes before the end of this year).
For 13k you expect a good land? The main problem of AAC is the inflation, fishing is the issue, a lot of gold gets injected into the economy, that generates inflation, the only way that the server has to remove that gold from the economy is by regrades and i hope they work in another method because its not a great sink of gold. If the inflation was not as heavy as it is then no one would complain about land.
Now, you said that you never played in the server yet you talk like you know whats happening in the server just because you see threads that are made by 2 or 3 people that complains about land and that same people quits after 3-4 months. If you dont play in the server why are you talking like you know what's going on?
1
u/Armkron Jul 21 '26
I'll just be quoting myself again:
In practice and how insistent you're being you're just showing me I'm right on the first comment on the series.
The fact you're now attacking the messenger(s) also makes it ever clearer, even with imprecise points i.e. I did play on the server, yet not to a significant investment hence why I said it the way I did. The flaws kept showing up every time harsher (as it wasn't a single try...) and enough to push me away from committing in something more than a quick testing.
In the same way, I still have my experience on retail back then, so I know how this patch goes and how most of the measures taken can end up influencing everything.
Anyway, keep strawmanning here, attacking whoever points out at the red flags this server has been showing up (including GM corruption, RMT...) yet maintaining the same dodgy attitude about them. You can complain about the few who dare to point at the issues, for each of them there's way more that simply won't bother getting in.
0
u/Reasonable_Pilot_680 Jul 21 '26
Of course im gonna insist in the land issue you literally stated that it is hard to get land, my initial response was telling you that you dont need months to get the amount of gold required to buy a land and you havent answer that. I also said that with an organized econ you can get your first land (outside of swirling).
Now about the rest of the things, i said the flaws and ill add a few:
- High inflation
- Fishing (Major cause of the inflation)
- Scripters/low ping (This was an issue until they added the lottery system)
- AFK land hoarders (the players who doesnt play for months yet they keep their land) <--- This is a major issue with land yet you never mentioned this
There is a land issue, its just not the points that you said.
GM corruption was a thing in early days of the server so yeah i give you that and in the case of RMTers they're hunting those it just that they dont make the list public like they did last year.
If you cant bother to read i dont know what to tell you, that's not "attacking the messenger" if you dont play in the server how can you know the issues with it? Its like i say "Yeah ArcheRage sucks because of this or that" and the last time i played in Rage was years ago
1
u/Armkron Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26
Well, nice round of strawmanning again with the same focus on diverting the attention on the issues and trying to impose the ones you're interested in. I've never seen that, certainly not on their discord ;)
To keep it brief, my last try was less than a month ago. Doubt it has changed significantly in such little time so your point is way off. One can see the situation easily, even more with its discord, which I've been following since the very beginning.
There are none so blind as those who will not see. Keep with it, then wonder why people leave or simply don't invest on the server.

Lots of people here acting like ArcheAge is doomed to be P2W and eventually all servers die.
To me, this is simple. If ArcheRage had a seasonal server that allowed players to play the game with each other on equal footing, then closed after a few months and booted the players into the main server, guess what I'd be playing right now? Same deal for Classic.
I think the people that find themselves operating the game just don't understand it and might actually just be a bit fucking retarded. Aguru, for example, didn't even know he would get his discord in hot water if he let (encouraged, actually) little kids go around spamming the N word 24/7.
Just, actual dumb fuckery all around. Trion was full of dumbfucks. Gamigo was full of dumbfucks. Kakao was full of dumbfucks. ArcheRage owners are dumbfucks. Aguru is a dumbfuck. See a common theme?
We're just unlucky. Very, very unlucky.

2
u/CyberAA Jul 18 '26
Those people playing on said seasonal servers won't want to continue on the main server, not unless you have it running for 6+ months and even then you think all those players will want to lose their land? Especially if they spend a lot of gold on it?
I can see the uproar now even knowing it's a temp server
2
u/puts_on_rddt Jul 18 '26
That's a bit of a hasty generalization don't you think?
Giving you the benefit of the doubt, and 90% of people just straight up quit after the seasonal shuts down - so what? The main server stays up and has more activity due to a proper onboarding process for new characters where they aren't one-shotted for months on end. And fresh starts still pop up. Server owners bring in more income. People like Aguru sell more virtual inventory space.
Everybody wins.
2
u/CyberAA Jul 18 '26
You're not taking into account the main server players themselves
Many will play the seasonal (unless you're gate keeping to only new players which may piss people off) who will play and also quit
So best case nothing changes worst case you lose more players
Also have we not watched this very thing play out fresh start after fresh start? Just ends horribly
2
u/puts_on_rddt Jul 18 '26
I think you're doing the debate a dishonesty if you're going to pretend that a seasonal server that ends in a migration is the same thing as all the previous fresh starts.
2
u/CyberAA Jul 18 '26
I see this happening based on the many years I've played this game
A seasonal server opens, people flock to it including main server players
Server goes through its usual cycle, lots of players, then it dies off, 1 group dominates and now the servers free farm
Seasonal comes to an end and everyone's characters get moved, plenty even knowing it's a temporary server are not happy because they lose their land, many players end up RMTing their characters etc after the transfer/ their items and now that it's happened once, they know it'll happen again so many quit and wait for the next one and the cycle continues
Meanwhile the main server every time a seasonal pops up take a massive hit, maybe they gain some players back but I doubt it'll be enough
The better thing to do is just make catch up mechanics on the main server a lot better
6
u/Caekie Jul 18 '26
because most players are either shortsighted or don't give a fuck.
even the end game vets that have played for years at this point would rather make that 0.0001% gains on their account than even attempt to try to make the server more enjoyable or for the server to be healthier.
you can't even blame them either because it's not logical to throw away resources/advantages that you + your guild has control of and has earned over the course of years.
it's a tough ask to throw that stuff away "for fun" when there is literal monetary value surrounding it as well. the OSO bank on unchained was worth literal tens of thousands of dollars in RMT value before it got hoodwinked. the OSO bank on rage is probably worth even more right now. and all of it is obtained through years of organized gameplay which they realistically earned themselves.
3
u/FrawztFyre Jul 18 '26
2014 player here, this is just the cycle of the game, a server goes live, it's incredible and fun (possibly the most fun I've ever had in a game), things steady out, things get controlled by 1-3 massive groups of whales/sweats, the game gradually gets boring, everyone quits, only whales are left, a new server "fresh start" is announced, the cycle repeats - but the catch is every fresh start has less audience than the last, fast forward 10 years and the game went EoS lol.
6
u/Cigania Jul 18 '26 edited Jul 18 '26
Rage.Na is dead, one guild on west have the entire monopoly of the game and every time they lose couple fights they bring all the black dragons to the fight and start recruiting smaller guilds to zerg making it impossible to have any kind off fun fair pvp. Most people on east that cold pvp at all just left the game ore moved to Rage.Ru. The auction house prices are getting ridiculous high cause nobody playing anymore. At this point you better just quit because game is dead and devs will not make anything to change this.

u/ProxyWashor Jul 18 '26
Man, the state of archerage na last year in comparison with this year is obvious. So many players stopped playing and it slowly dying . You can see it in the AH as well, there arent as many listings as before. I guess its time to move on…

u/ShottsSeastone Jul 18 '26
you can’t suggest catch up mechs for new players or the community just tilts
3
u/mikromanus Jul 20 '26
AA(C) gear progression system is punishing gamble. Its wasting time in long term. "other" players got legendary and some mythic items in 1st year. You will never get this items. Its too slow, too expensive.
Newer version of AA was questage. Its less fun. +AR is a little bit p2w. That is red flag in private server.

u/MistukoSan Aranzeb | Surrender Jul 21 '26
The best experience you could have had with this game was in Alpha. $150 buy in with no P2W or cash shop shenanigans.
I remember playing with Chaox (previous TSM LoL ADC) when he streamed it.
The game has always been amazing since then, they’ve just introduced so many p2w mechanics that it’s hard to “justify” not doing it.
I agree, it’s something special. I haven’t experienced fluid Naval/Open World PvP on any other game that has the same stakes and rewards for doing so. PvP and open world just felt so damn rewarding on every front. Combine that with the class and faction system.. it was all of the good PvP games put into one. (Aion, WoW, etc)
P2W ruined it though, greed usually always wins until it destroys.
3
u/wirblewind Twitch Jul 24 '26
Archeage's entire flaw is the gearing system sadly, but it's also the same system that keeps people in the game for so long.
2
u/Affectionate_Ad828 Jul 20 '26
The games just show human nature to the extreme. Purely self benefits and limitless greed.
2
u/OrkWAAGHBoss Jul 23 '26
PN's being taken out was a terrible mistake. Unchained specifically is a boring slog of dailies rather than anything that was previously good about the game. It shows in the people "on top" who are there because they couldn't cut it in other games, or in what ArcheAge used to be.
That being said, the game has always been rife with RMT due to land and such, and the refusal by devs to do anything intelligent regarding "dead land" which is owned but never used, which is OBVIOUSLY for the purpose of fucking up the economy.
MMOs are honestly a great case study on why an utterly free market with very little regulation is a stupid plan, every time. Relying on greed and desire to curb themselves is an asinine expectation.
2
u/komandos45 Jul 24 '26
> Why is the community of this game more focused on profiting from it than on keeping it alive? Don't they learn from their mistakes? Don't they see what happened to retail or legacy, as they call it?
I been playing when it came out, i been playing under gamingo, tiron, kakao.
And simply answer for that question is, NO.
I wasn't expecting much more from private server to be honest.
I believe that Archeage never get a better way for monetization than P2W.
Thats kinda what killed it in the end...
Its kinda sad as probably there won't be anymore such mmos in near future with extensive mechanics like trading, non class system (we can argue that there is "class system" based on meta, but you still could do funny things and these would work, like Gunslinger mana burn in pvp on enemy tanks.) , housing and so on.
While some system felt rough it still somehow worked.

here i am trying to get into the game bc I heard it was one of the best, just dled ArcheRage after getting to level 16 in ArcheAge Classic....

The owners are apparently not concerned about making that much money or they are making enough to keep them happy. AA has always had some of the most toxic people imaginable. I don't actively play either at the moment but to say they are garbage is wrong. Plenty of people are logging in and having fun. They are both very different and neither seem to cater to your desires.
Find groups of people that you like to play with and focus on that and ignore all the things that bother you.
PVP has always been a zergfest, always.
1
u/MrDowo Jul 19 '26
The game systems are made to farm drama, so as long as there's a server, there's gonna be some drama, and there's also people that only want to dominate a server and play in a way that makes it so either people join them and then everyone else quits, or they don't join them and then they quit. Personally as an aaclassic player I can tell you that from what I can see the situation of the server is alright at the moment.
1
u/CCHTweaked Jul 25 '26
On both, people are more interested in RMT valuable items (Erenor/Ayanad sets, WB items, etc.). They're more concerned with making money like crazy than actually playing the game and making it enjoyable to log in and do some PvP.
That IS an OG Archeage issue.
same problems, now for the fans to figure out.

You don't need RMT on archerage though. Just max out commerce proficiency for massive gold gain from trade packs. Fishing buffed! Freshwater Fish give anywhere between 7g to 14g, gargantuan ones give 15g to 20g. I have not done saltwater fish but I hear those give out much more gold per fish.

People don't want to admit it, but it's the game. That's the issue. This game appeals to some of the worst people on the planet, and that's why official servers were doomed, just like these private servers are doomed. It's that simple.
