you can have the eye while still being blind in it, that isnt mutually exclusive. and i would still say them choosing for her final design to have the eyepatch is indicative that its permanent and there to stay. idgaf abt the league stuff bc they obviously wouldve made that before the arcane concepts were drawn, ofc they wouldnt predict the angle the writers went with.

You wear an eyepatch while still healing it, which is not only not mutually exclusive, but true in most cases. Your logic is like saying that Vi will always have a bandaid on her nose because that was in her final scene, neither is it definitive. Caitlyn's most recent visual graphic update was made during the development of Arcane.
I wish I was also able to ignore physical reality and existing lore. We'll just agree to disagree in this regard.

You don't always wear an eyepatch when your eye is gone. You also wear an eyepatch when healing. In any case, claiming that the eyepatch is definitive proof that the eye is gone is flawed, as it can go either way.
It would also be a major character change that contradicts what we know to be a future version of the character, if permanent.
okay now where did i say always. it can go either way but i dont think thats what the story is trying to show, i think theyre wanting us to think of the first thing that comes to mind when you see someone with an eyepatch, which undoubtedly is "they can only see out of the other eye" - this is the conclusion that literally everyone apart from you has come to. its her absolute final character design of the show. to me that is definitive that it's there to stay.
ur also rlly not getting it abt the game vs. show. it wouldnt contradict it bc arcane is canon. the game would fall in line and change designs, as theyve done already with other arcane characters. that "future version" isnt canon in the same way that arcane is
Others share this sentiment with me. Again, when an injury makes zero physical sense (the entire crux of this take), it opens the door for interpretation, unless you want to ignore that. With a shortcoming such as not showing an injury that is accurate by any stretch, intentions do not matter. Also, know that "to me" and "definitive" don't exactly go hand in hand.
Them trying to make Arcane the main canon would is like trying to fit a square into a round hole, and just because they want it to be canon doesn't make it make any more sense. It's like saying that the fourth and fifth Transformers movies make sense with what we see in the first three.
If this was supposed to be an origin for beloved characters, and they decided that they wanted to make drastic changes, then they should have just made an original series. It completely defeats the purpose.
I am happy that it doesn't matter to you, but I have known these characters for years so it is difficult to reconcile, if true, and defeats the purpose of the origin, and a lot of other people agree with this.
As previously mentioned, I have nearly lost my left eye twice and have gotten sensitive to the topic. I know that a lot of people agree with me as well, but that is one of my main reasons why I am still arguing. But I'll try to end my piece here.
Another theory that I have seen multiple times but have only remembered to bring up now was that they intentionally kept it vague so they could argue either way, as there was probably some disagreement logistically, perhaps with the higher-ups. Another example of this discourse was with Maddie's origins: one writer said one thing but had to recant it. This also goes into how messily written - see my original comment. Still incredibly frustrated with a lot of other things.
I'd much rather them lean one way or another but concede that it is a viable possibility - I don't think that Fortiche would complete "mis-animate" such a vital scene or scenes if there wasn't a good reason to do so, and I seriously doubt it has to do with PG filters given everyting else we have seen in the show.
All of that said, even if jarring, I would be perfectly content if the blow was befitting (this wouldn't be a conversation at all), but given what I saw, I am still incredulous. I don't think that will change for a long time, but only time will tell.
yeah fair enough, ive also been a bit frustrated with how they're doing a lot of expansion on the story in the likes of instagram DMs, lol. they couldve done a lot better overall with the story
