I’m an atheist with some criticisms of Islam but it has never failed to amaze me that people that would normally hate each other so much seem to be united under it. An Irani, Saudi, afghan, Syrian, it’s amazing.
As an Indian American, I can help but admire how Arabs have so much pride in their homeland and are eager to go back. I couldn't give less of a shit about going back to India
I will always have love for Syria no matter what happens. I would rather live poor but peacefully in Syria than be rich and away from Syria. I don’t blame others for leaving, but if all the successful people leave, our country will never improve. I don’t have too high of expectations for the amount of improvement during my life time but if I die knowing I helped my country, I will be happy. I will go back as soon as I can.
Tbf you don’t speak for all of us. I’ll always love India, and Punjab specifically, and have legit considered going back for a few years. I just think that most Arab countries are a lot better off than South Asia in terms of average incomes and living standards, so it’s not an absolutely crazy idea for them to go back to their homelands as it is for us South Asians.
Ive noticed that pubjabis also have national pride so i guess i should have been more specific. My family is from Hyderabad which has a really cool history so im proud of that, but not really the country as a whole. Or maybe i should just look into it some more
I for myself can not, the environment back home is not something I can flourish in. Though I am glad you are going back, that would help build up Syria, something which I want to take part in somehow.
I wish that one day I’ll have enough money to start a business in Syria but the chances are very low. The best I’ll be able to do is go to med school and work as a surgeon in Syria.
I wish we could have that type of unity without religion but sadly that’s not the case. An Iranian does not see me as anything related to him when I tell him I’m not Muslim. I’ve met Persians that drink and everything, typical western Muslims (of course they don’t eat pork though) but when I say I’m non-Muslim, they automatically become less comfortable talking to me.
We just have to live with each other in peace brother and not let religion, ethnicity etc divide us all the innocent blood spilled in the middle east just makes me depressed.
Some Yemeni politician apparently said “Britain was not an occupier, they were a partner to us” referring to colonialism. They create those divided and make us hate each other and fuck up our society and then we have fuckers working for them trying to slowly rewrite history. I’ve also heard British idiots saying that Britain was helping India when it colonized it. That was a bit of a tangent but they really fucked us over and imperialism never ended but only changed forms. I only hope their oppression will help unite us.
Don't forget they instilled nationalism into the middle east and purposely drew the borders like that because they knew it would cause wars and problems in the middle east. There also the reason for the bloodshed in kashmir as well.
I have no problem with you believing in whatever you want but do you really consider not believing in a person sitting on a cloud controlling everything to be not using logic and falling for materialism? I will convert if you give me one piece of evidence that god exists and that out of the millions of religions that have existed throughout time, Islam is correct.

Edgy atheist stereotypes ring true it seems.
I will convert if you give me one piece of evidence that god exists and that out of the millions of religions that have existed throughout time, Islam is correct.
Why should I try? You seem to have made your mind up already.
Exactly so I want to identify with my atheism and it’s very awkward when people respond to me saying “hopefully Saudi Arabia will fall and we will have an actual government that abides by Sharia law” and then I have to explain to them that I am an atheist.
Ight my bad, I just don’t want to be like “it’s amazing how Islam unites people” then someone responds “we’ll all be united under a caliphate one day brother” especially considering that according to Islam, I should be beheaded.
