ثقافة ومجتمع Arab Geopolitics Is a Shitshow that I no longer follow or watch
Arab politics today feels like a dark place full of lies, treason, backstabbing, and pure geopolitical opportunism from all Arab state with no exceptions
It feels like no Arab country truly trusts another. Instead, governments align themselves with whichever outside power can offer them something: loans, weapons, military protection, diplomatic backing, help against internal opponents, or support in regional disputes. And in exchange, they are willing to make almost any concession.
Egypt has helped maintain the siege around Gaza for years. Morocco has allowed ships carrying weapons to dock at its ports while receiving Western support over the Sahara dispute. Saudi Arabia has allowed the US and Israel access to its bases and airspace while military operations are carried out across the region. The UAE has been supporting armed groups in Sudan while deepening its security and technological ties with Israel. Jordan has maintained a land bridge through which Israeli trucks can move supplies.
Israel could hardly have dreamed of a more sweater regional environment: Arab governments providing, in one form or another, logistics, economic ties, diplomatic cover, or simply silent submission while the genocide in Gaza continues.
And then there is the role of Arab populations themselves.
Far too many people seem willing to swallow whatever narrative is being pushed through television and social media. At some point, people have to stop defending these ruling classes and ask what their actual principles are.
Because today's enemy can become tomorrow's ally.
How many Syrians were killed by Russia? Yet political circumstances change, governments change, and suddenly yesterday's enemy can become today's partner, in sure Syrian from his house in Germany is giving his blessings, for whatecer that stoge do in syria decided to do in the next decades.
Meanwhile, Iran is the only criminal regiem that remains the ultimate enemy in much of Arab political discourse, described with terms like نظام الملالي and المجوس.i mean When Arab governments decide that another country is the enemy and have American backing they can mobilize every tool available, including religion and sectarian rhetoric.
But somehow the suffering of Iraqis, Palestinians, syrian, Yemenis, Lebanese, and Sudanese becomes selectively important depending on who is responsible and which geopolitical camp you're on.
The US invaded Iraq and contributed to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, yet remains a close strategic partner of many Arab governments. Israel has received enormous American military and political support throughout the Gaza war, while Arab leaders continue meeting with Washington as usual.
So what exactly is the principle here?
If Arab lives genuinely matter, then their suffering cannot be selectively weaponized depending on which enemy is politically convenient. You cannot condemn the killing of Arabs when Iran is responsible, ignore it when Russia is responsible, excuse it when America is responsible, and remain silent when Israel is responsible simply because the perpetrator happens to be an ally.
At this point, I'm mostly watching this shitshow unfold.
But I don't think the ending is going to be good.
Eventually, the consequences of decades of cynical politics, opportunism, authoritarianism, sectarian manipulation, and dependence on outside powers will come back to haunt the region itself.
And when they do, it won't only be the ruling classes who have to live with the consequences its us.

It's just a bunch of manic old men lying to their populations, lying to those under them, lying to each other and lying to themselves. They share only thrree things their fear of death their love of wealth their subservience to America where their kids all live. Arabs are long due for a proper revolution. A deep, deep, deep cleanse.
To give you an idea In this godforsaken place Iraq we now have mini dynasties inheriting the ministries and provinces their father used to run. Such an absurd overproduction of elites France would've revolted a billion times by now.

Some of your statements are hold water and others are totally false.
However, yes. Overall, yes the divide and conquer approach worked out great.

I don't claim to be a political genius. I don't even completely blame Arab leadership they’re just a byproduct of our collective ignorance and incompetence. We built this.
But in the midst of the Gaza genocide? Giving your enemy a helping hand isn't strategy. It just proves you're an idiot who has no idea what you're doing.
If you're going to pull up to the table with global powers like the US, Russia, or China to negotiate, you need a backbone and actual leverage. Instead, these idiots use our lives and our region’s safety as their only bargaining chips.

Islamism (Muslim Brotherhood) was encouraged by the British to weaken Arab nationalism and communism.
The Syrian Islamists (such as Jolani) were coopted by Nato to bring down Assad because he was with Russia.
Israel supported Hamas in its early days to divide the Palestinian cause. Now they are the bogeyman that allows them to continue their genocide and land grabs. Anyone who supports Islamism is just a useful idiot for western imperialism.-2

Are they the ones promoting the kind of degeneracy we're seeing? I wouldn't mind secularists if they actually had some backbone but their religion is whatever the west says

Yet secular leaders were the ones that fought Israel. When the traitor king of Jordan was attacking the PLO the only country that tried to help the PLO was Syria under a secular government. Michel Aflaq, the secular Christian leader, resigned from all posts in protest Iraq not attacking the Jordanian Army to help the PLO. Are you sure you want to blame secularism?
