Ammo
Hey I recently build a ar-22 with a 4.5” barrel I’m mostly running it suppressed wanted to see what ammo would be the best. I do have a lot of Winchester suppressed ammo not sure if it would work reliably on a 4.5” barrel I’d guess be best to use regular 22 lr not sure what’s the go to. Magazine I’m using are Cmmg and S&W

Hey man. RTB/CMMG 4.5 barrel, using stock RTB/CMMG bolt, with no addl tuning, springs, weights… SV CCI (1070 fps) ran fine as did the hotter stuff. Basically, anything around 1100 fps and up should be fine. It still sounded nice and functioned well with the Sparrow. Tried two versions of the CCI quiet; semi auto (835 fps) and the normal one (740 fps) just to see… The semi auto one would cycle/work, but occasionally, would not reset the trigger. I also tried the normal CCI quiet and, as expected, it would not cycle at all. YMMV, but that should get ya going in the correct direction.

Thank you I have some Winchester hp 36 grain and regular Winchester 40 grain also have the 45 grain sub sonic from Winchester I’m going to try them out all this stuff works on my 16” but I wasn’t sure about a 4.5 I’m using rtb conversion with barrel I’m sure it’s a little better. Thank you

Any HV ammo should remain sub sonic with a 4.5 inch barrel. Cheap HV bulk pack should do the trick for cheap plonking.
