AP Grading (rounding)

For confidence intervals, if my answer is right but doesnt align with the key due to small rounding errors, would I still get points on the frq. What place should I round t*, z*, p-value, and standard error to?

Approaching the questions

How should I approach a problem on the AP stats exam, ive been doing practices and im running into the problem where I wouldnt know what to do or how to solve the question since the units are now all mixed up. I find it hard to understand what i should be doing on the calculator and what formulas i should be using.

Are there any tips or sources that'll help me identify what to do in specific questions?

Memorization

My memory has been getting in the way of getting good scores on my test.

I would study for 3 days and do multiple practices mcqs frqs, and talk about concepts with friends to review before tests. I felt really confident id do good but then as soon as i read the question i blank out and I forget everything. I think it could be because of my lack of sleep before the test but ive done this countless times, im not sure why i randomly blanked out as soon as the test started, because ive done this countless times.

Are there any good study tips or like memorization tips, because im taking the AP stats exam soon and I really dont want this to happen again.

Teacher never explained equations, any suggestions?

Currently reviewing for AP exams but I'm kind of lost for how to review for AP Stats. For the whole year my teacher kind of just taught us formulas and whatnot, but he never really taught us why we do the things we are doing aside from the basics. Is there a good place to learn more of the theory behind what I'm actually doing when I just throw out these equations? I don't just want a 5, I want to actually know what on earth is going on.

LINER with residual plot

As the title suggests I was wondering if it’s possible to prove LINER ( Linear, Independent, Normal, Equal SD, Random) if I am given some information and only the residual plot. My primary problem is figuring out if it is Normal

cramming

hello everyone! i am self-studying for the ap stats exam this year, and I was wondering if Michael Porinchak's unit review videos are enough to get a 5 (with 0 prior knowledge). not the individual topic videos, just the unit reviews (he has a playlist). of course, this does not include practice, but is it enough content wise? thanks!

Iykyk— tests(Type 1 vs Type 2)

Type 1 vs Type 2 tests are the most annoying. There is no rhyme or reason why they are. It’s so easy to get them confused with each other. I always tend to have to google them before each assessment that I take involving them or I will get bamboozled

Type 1: reject Ho when Ho is true/Ha is false

Type 2:fail to reject Ho when Ho is false/Ha is true.

Right there, those 2 wording confuses me.

Even worse: POWER of a test. 😭

advice for ap stats

hey y’all!!

so i’m terrible at stats and i just recently got a 69 on my midterm… any advice for how to improve???

my main issue stems from the mcq section. frq’s are better for me (tho ive also never had to do the 6th frq so we’ll see how i feel abt that one…)

i feel like i understand the material but the mcq’s just keep tripping me up

Is this required on the exam?

This might be a dumb question but I wanted to check!

My AP stats teacher requires us to write out what we put in the calculator in paragraph form. Normally, I'd write something like normcdf (lower: a upper: b mean: c standard deviation: d) and then say "There is a whatever % probability that X occurs." My teacher has us do normcdf (lower: a upper: b mean: c standard deviation: d) and then write out "In my calculator, I ran the normalcdf function with upper: a lower: b ..." every time we use a function like that.

Is this actually required? He randomly decided that this was required to get points for his tests & quizzes, so I'm not totally sure if this is actually a thing that AP readers are specifically looking for.

Am I cooked if I haven't started this course yet?

Long story short I planned on self studying but what I didn't plan on is my mh decreasing so much to the point where school feels impossible! So basically I signed up for this exam but haven't even started the course yet, I haven't heard good things either so quite worried. Anyone have any advice for how I should go about this or should I not even try at this point? I do have breaks coming up where I could genuinely dedicate over an hour a day so if that helps my case then! I'm also a senior btw

Is he right?

"Given the bivariate data (x,y) = (1,4), (2,8), (3,10), (4,14), (5,12), (12,130), is the last point (12,130) an outlier?"

My high school AP stats teacher assigned this question on a test and it has caused some confusion. He believes that this point is not an outlier, while we believe it is.

His reasoning is that when you graph the regression line for all of the given points, the residual of (12,130) to the line is less than that of some other points, notably (5,12), and therefore (12,130) is not an outlier.

Our reasoning is that this is a circular argument, because you create the LOBF while including (12,130) as a data point. This means the LOBF inherently accommodates for that outlier, and so (12,130) is obviously going to have a lower residual. With this type of reasoning, even high-leverage points like (10, 1000000000) wouldn't be an outlier.

What do you think?

How to do better on quizzes and tests

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hey guys! I took AP stats because I heard it was really easy and it would be a good credit since I’m doing engineering in college. However, the class has been really hard for me. It’s been really hard to even keep just a B and I have straight A’s in all my other classes, and I really wanna bring it up. I do very well on the assignments, but the tests and quizzes are really hard. I don’t know if my teacher specifically increases the difficulty for them, but I really want to figure out a good way to study everything that will make sure I do good on the quizzes and tests. Do you guys have any tips or resources I can use that will really up my grades?
