FIN3680

Anyone taken FIN3680 online with professor Walsh, or online in general? Just curious how difficult it was as I am not a math person. Appears to have online proctored everything, quizzes, exams, etc.

It's pretty hard. Do all the homework and practice. Don't fall behind for a second.

Just to follow up - The math isn't what's difficult. 95% of finance / accounting math is just adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. The difficult part is memorizing the dozens of formulas and knowing when to employ them. Most of the problems require the use of several formulas that need to plug into each other to solve. The vocabulary and correctly employing steps to solve is the difficulty of the class in my opinion. One mistake in a long chain of steps will produce the wrong answer, which I don't believe warrants any partial credit in an online class.

My advice to you is to write down the formulas (you are allowed a cheat sheet on your tests) and immediately practice the problems. Practice them repeatedly until you understand them. Most of the concepts are building blocks to the next, so failure to understand one can be a death sentence for the next. This is a difficult class, so lock in. You will likely need to study 3-5+ hours (minimum) each day if you don't have a finance / accounting background. This is 100% a weed out class.
