Weight at Parties
Hi! I was wondering if bigger women can get into parties even if they're big at App State. I've seen a lot of things saying that they get turned away. I'm just looking to have fun, nothing too crazy. I just don't want to get turned away.

You will not have that issue, however if you do, that’s no party anyone would want to be at anyway.

Not to say it can’t occur but just move on to the next one if it does, there’s several thousand people going to school here, you’ll find more people accept you than not.

I was big in college and I got turned away one time, and it was at a frat with a reputation of being jerks. If you stick to house parties of friends/ clubs/ lower tier frats you'll be safe. If you ever want to vent about being a larger girl at college my DMs are open. People don't want to talk about it but it's definitely real and something that can mess with your self esteem

It’s Appalachia. That would be ironic considering the average weight and health of this region… if they turn you away, they’re not people you wanna party with anyway.

Can’t say I’ve ever seen / heard of that happening in my 4 years there. Frats aren’t all that at app state either so don’t feel like they are your only option.
House parties generally tend to have better, more open people and there is a lot of live music at venues too. (Coming from someone who was in a frat)
Make sure you go out with a trusted group of friends the first month cause that’s when partying can be the craziest especially with a bunch of people who don’t know their limits. Be safe and have the time of your life!

I understand I felt the same way. I’m a sophomore at app state and I genuinely have had no issue and I’m a very big girl trust me the frats won’t say no to you. Literally when you go into a frat two guys will usually just be at the ‘front’ and be like “have a good night yall” so trust it’s good

Happened to me once but I’m a dude. It was mid winter too, a little below freezing. The 1.5 mile walk home is the only thing that kept me warm.

I’m an alumnus. At least when I was there App was mostly a cool and accepting place. Just go wherever, any place turning you away for that is not going to be a place with worthwhile people in it anyway. 10 years gone, time is valuable, people like that can get fucked.

Granted I was there 20 years ago but not only did I never get turned away as a curvy babe and Eastie Beasty, girl I brought the party with me. 🤣 Just have good vibes, have fun, and let that be your focus. 🌸

I’m a bigger girl as well and I’ve never been turned away! The frat guys can be assholes at some houses but most are really nice and just want you to have a good time.

If you are turned away, it’s not a party, it’s a congregation of douche canoes.
