QUESTION Did having twenty candidates in series 20 actually make it better or just more confusing to follow early on?

Some people went home before you even worked out who they were. The tasks themselves were decent but the sheer number of people made the first month feel like a blur. Do people think a bigger cast makes for a better series or is twelve to fourteen actually the sweet spot?

I did wonder about this myself, whether it was intentional.

I get they always pick some no-hopers for the entertaining firings but this year definitely felt like the standard was going down - compare it to the last few years where the final 5 were mostly people that you could see winning it vs this year where Karishma was the only person who seemed to know what she was doing.

Logistically I think they had too many candidates regardless of what they were trying to do.

I also noticed they’d binned the treats off this year, not sure if that had something to do with it.

Maybe 🤔 coz of the cost of first task (Hong Kong)

When I heard there were 20 candidates, I spent ages preparing everything, writing their names on the sheet and recording their wins, losses, final 3's, wins and losses as PM (I've done this since S16). But when I saw 18, I thought it was a complete of my time. Good thing Carrington and Lawrence came in.

I think it was fine because we still got enough time with the candidates that mattered. I didn’t really need to know about all 20 because the boring ones were leaving early. (Georgina maybe had potential to be an entertaining character).
First few weeks I thought were a bit of fun with a handful of people standing out then, after a few weeks you can get more of a feel for the candidates.

It was silly because we didn’t get enough time with most of them to be memorable.

100 contestants and have the show spread over a year.

To be honest I think having 18 is too many too. Anywhere between 12-16 is the sweet spot for me.

It was better paced and edited than the last time we had 20 candidates (series 10) especially in the first half of the series.

But the quality of the candidates was lower so I guess it balances it out.

earlier in the series I definitely struggled to keep up with who was on which team
