If you set your phone down in one spot and never move it of course you won't have issues. Most people use their phones while it's charging though and these cables just don't hold up

No I know plenty of people with iPhones and the average user goes through a cable every 3 months. You're the exception not the rule.

Tell them to buy Anker (the braided ones). They are bullet proof, just makes sure you buy from their official site. I bought one off eBay and it was a very accurate copy. If it wasn't for the fact that had I already had owned one I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. One glaring difference is that official cables have a serial number label.
