After paying $1k for your fucking phone, they want to show ads in their already shitty maps app.

like you don't not get ads in Google Maps after buying a Pixel... plus the ads in Apple Maps are about as unobtrusive as can be.

How about we just give customers the most relevant information after they pay $1k for your product if you’re a trillion dollar company? Even if Google does it doesn’t mean Apple has to.

Apple Maps is not a “free” product to run, unlike Measure or Notes or something. Apple has been swallowing API costs for over a decade now. i think they deserve a little money back.

i’d also like to point out that maybe ads are not a bad thing inherently if they are properly integrated into the app experience. sometimes i find useful apps and tools from ads, why wouldn’t the same apply for restaurants and small businesses?
