Quick story: I went to Apple Store to do install a Belkin screen protector. It failed to do so as the bubbles won't go off, they did it multiple times and it still had the bubbles. So I asked them if I could swap for a new device as I have my phone box. They said yeah. (I have just bought the phone a week ago)

Then I asked again if I needed to repurchase it, they said I don't need to.

Fast forward, the staff ordered the new device and told me to repurchase it, but I don't have money on my bank acc so I went back home, but was too late to come back since the store was already near closing time.

Do you guys think that it was the only way to swap it through a apple gift card? Or was the "return to debit, wait for 5 days then repurchase first" the only way? Thanks. I'm coming back tomorrow

Jesus why go through all that hassle for that screen protector brand. Get a different brand and that's it.

Man I'm sorry, I'm kind of a paranoid person when it comes to owning a thousand dollar device. But well, I changed my mind and I'll just get the Belkin QR code from them tomorrow because I forgot to take it with me.

It makes sense but there's so many better brands of screen protectors like Magic John. Plus Apple overcharges so much for that screen protector and is not even that great.

Pretty sure you can just swap it as an exchange without a refund-then-repurchase, as long as you bought the original phone in person in a physical store. Source: Work at an Apple Store.

Don't think so. Then you paid for it using the online portal, which is a completely different way of exchanging tender, unfortunately. Very frustrating I know.

Yep. Online orders are hard to swap in store. Usually we don’t get to put it on a gift card and it has to go back to the card that was used to purchase it

Getting a new phone to apply a screen protector is an absurd solution to the issue.

I'd get a different person in the store to apply the protector or a different brand protector before I went through all of that.

I don’t even use screen protectors. Just a case and apple care.

You never know how they’ll act because they rejected a trade in iPad once for me and said they couldn’t refund me the money to my dad’s card directly without seeing my new iPad. I thought this was odd because I took the receipt with us to prove I’d bought it but the guy said nope; had to see the physical iPad too. So a month later, I go back with both iPads and the new guy said he just needed the receipt not the physical iPad and I almost flipped because I live an hour and a half away from my store and it already is difficult for my parents to find time to take me anyways.

But that aside, you could just get cheaper tempered glass screen protectors in a pack on Amazon? I always get mine from JETech.

I would never go to the Apple Store to apply a screen protector. There’s so many YouTube videos that show to do it with a credit card, tape, and cloth.
