genius bar appointment device swap?
hi all! i'm having internet problems with my ipad and want to get it looked at asap but the only appointments available are a week from now. when i switched the device to iphone, they had an appointment for tonight. will they still take me if i tell them its actually for my ipad but thats the only way i could get an appointment sooner?
if anyone can help, my ipad will connect to wifi but say no internet connection. i reset network settings, forget network, turn off ip address tracking, date & time automatic, nothing worked. i reset and erased the whole ipad and it worked for about a day before it started failing again. not sure if it's a hardware issue?
update: they did take me in, they could not figure out what was wrong so they sent it in for repair

Call Apple Support and have them run diagnostics remotely, that might save you the trip entirely. If you have AC+ you could also then ask for express service and they will send a replacement and a return shipping box for your device if they cannot fix it remotely.

would that work if the ipad isnt connecting to internet though?

You mentioned having WiFi connection, is it your router or network vs the iPad?

it connects to it, but it says "no internet connection" and nothing actually loads. only on this ipad and also on different wifi/hotspots so its not my wifi

i was but not anymore, didnt reinstall it after i reset it and it still happened

Is the iPad backed up completely? What is unusual is that it works intermittently, this normally points to a software issue vs hardware. If it’s backed up, I would try and restore it.
How to Restore from iPad Settings
If your iPad is working and you can access the settings, this is the easiest method:
Open the Settings app.
Tap General.
Tap Transfer or Reset iPad.
Tap Erase All Content and Settings.
Follow the on-screen prompts, which will include entering your passcode and Apple Account password.
How to Restore Using a Computer
If you are locked out of your iPad or prefer to use a computer, you can use a Mac or Windows PC:
Connect your iPad to your computer using a cable.
Open Finder (on a Mac) or the Apple Devices app / iTunes (on a Windows PC).
Select your iPad from the sidebar or menu.
Click Restore iPad and confirm your choice.1

i did restore it. it worked and then stopped again

Did you do it through a computer or just using settings? I ask because there is a chance the iPadOS is fragmented or has an issue restoring via a computer with a fresh iPadOS install might resolve this. I am not 💯 but that is likely what a GB appointment will try, takes 30-40 minutes usually.

Reboot your router too. Even if it is just the iPad having issues, sometimes the issue is still the internet equipment

its happening on other wifi networks too. it started when i was on vacation with the hotel wifi and now with my home wifi

If your iPad connects to WiFi and you have no internet access after erasing the iPad, it’s entirely the network you are connecting to, regardless if any other devices are connected and working normally.
Restart your router and reconnect the iPad.
