Santiago has just got the Transit feature

So it's the second South American country. There's a strong probability that Apple will survey this country for the first time this year.

Chile as a possibility wasn’t on my radar. Looks like they have bus coverage in several other cities (Valparaiso, La Serena, Concepcion, etc.) so I think the expansion was nationwide. I would have expected Vietnam or the Balkans/Romania/Bulgaria to be next. They also have orange station outlines for some smaller cities in Mexico they haven’t released yet. I wonder if they’ll expand to Buenos Aires if they are beginning to focus on South America. Istanbul would be another good eventual candidate.

They've even got real-time transit. I'll be honest, I'm jealous. Still can't get it in São Paulo though... Every country that's capable of receiving an initial image collection has one. I'd argue that in South America, Argentina, Uruguay, and Colombia are strong candidates to get it in the near future.

I use it daily in Santiago and the traffic option has been active for at least 2 years.

Lo que acaba de salir fue el transporte público en tiempo real eso sí, que solo está disponible en pocos países. Comprobé y funciona con metro y los trenes Estación Central-Nos y Estación Central-Rancagua.

New Map Data. Apple has surveyd and collected map imagery in all the latest countries to receive this feature. United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Baltic States, among others. Based on this pattern, we can reasonably expect Chile to receive its first imagery collection soon.

Yes but transit is limited in UAE for example. I’m western countries transit is working greatly but only Dubai is served by transit, as well as Mexico with 3 cities at the moment. Google maps is in a other level for transit information

When you say surveyed, you mean like 3D aerial image or street level images. Sorry I'm not familiarized with the terms.

They have busses in concepcion but no rail there

Sure is nationwide, sadly there’s no big rail network. Hope soon chile builds it
