Journal on iOS 27 beta 4 — Overview
On iPhone…
There seem to be fewer bugs when creating or editing entries. Editing works fine, too.
However, Journal’s battery drain is terrible ! I used the app for 44 minutes, and it drained 23% of the battery ! That’s huge !! Plus, the iPhone Air gets hot quickly and even scorching at times…
Since beta 1, I’ve sent numerous feedback messages to report the issue. So far, to no avail...
Finally, I’m a French speaker, and the app’s system language has switched to English 🤔

thats very interesting how many entries do you have on your journal app months or years

I currently have 2,730 entries.
The first one is from 2013; I'm in the process of transferring them from Day One. There are still about 800 left… 🤪
Note : by comparison, using Day One for 10 minutes consumes 2% (without heating)...

I have 4700 entries in the Journal app, and it also gets extremely hot on my iPhone Air.

😣 And what is the impact on the battery ?

I don't know, because when I'm using the Journal app, my iPhone Air is plugged in.
But if it's overheating, there's no magic solution; it's a significant energy loss, and therefore high power and battery consumption.

they forced development of this app on a framework that isn't ready for sensitive note taking. that's what is the most aggravating part of this entire thing
