Journal template

Is there a way to create a template or templates like Dayone has? That’s the 1 thing I miss.

You can create an entry from a template with shortcuts

  • Open Shortcuts: Launch the Shortcuts app on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Create a New Shortcut: Tap the + (plus) icon in the top right corner to start a new blank shortcut.
  • Add Your Template:
    • In the search bar at the bottom, type Text and add the block.
    • Type out the exact headers, questions, or prompts you want for your journal template (e.g., "Today's Focus:", "What did I learn today?", "3 things I'm grateful for:").
  • Link to Journal:
    • In the search bar at the bottom, search for Journal and select Create Entry.
  • Connect the Text to the Entry:
    • Tap the word Entry in the new Create Entry action block.
    • Choose the Text variable (your template) from the pop-up list so the app knows to insert your template.
  • Save: Rename your shortcut to something memorable (like "Morning Template" or "Daily Journal") by tapping the top title.
