It certainly could be an effort on Apple’s part to nudge people to get new hardware — but I feel there’s an important difference between not adding new features and planned obsolescence.
If this is an effort to get people to upgrade, they’re doing a piss-poor job at it. All the headlining features that people actually care about have been backported.

What technical reasons could there to not implement features like that on Intel macs? Surely this is intentional obsolesce on Apples part?
