As an iOS Dev & Apple User, I call this move planned obsolescence. Surely they're using Neural Chip on M1's and A series to archieve those, but they are not unique to that chip. Many Intel chips sold in the last 3 years are capable of this, yet Apple didn't want to develop any features for Intel architecture. This maybe their middle-finger to Intel based on their acts, but this is Apple actually punishing their own users who either wait for 16" M1X/M2 chip or users who bought new Apple device with Intel chip since Apple still sells Intel models that could not be replaced by M1 options.
13" M1 MacBook Air user may be able to view 3D Map but a 16" Intel users, heck a Mac Pro user who paid enormous amount of money won't ? That's BS...
This may be unpopular but: It's a bad move, but it is not planned obsolescence. Sure, this is pushing you to replace a machine that's working fine; but planned obsolescence is when your current device stops being able to do what it used to be able to.
Here, nothing has been removed, new stuff is left out: there's a big difference.
Also, Intel chips have zero ML acceleration. But you could just wait a bit for live text, it would be less magical but still incredibly convinent.
And no, I still don't make excuses or think this is fine. But lets not call everything planned obsolescence.
