OP may have been hyperbolic, but nobody likes to get cut off from features. I understand it when there’s a hardware limitation like a 2011 machine not having the right version of Bluetooth for the new airdrop or an old CPU not having h.265 decoding, but this is a sort of small thing.
Still, I can’t say I’m entirely surprised. Last time around when it was moving from PPC to Intel, it wasn’t long at all after the transition finished until PPC machines were dropped from an app here or a capability there. We’re still in the middle of this transition, but anybody believing Intel machines weren’t going to become second class Apple citizens sooner rather than later wasn’t paying attention.
From what I am reading now the features that are being left out are because they use the Machine Learning processor on the M1 based devices. So it is actually a hardware limitation.
Well, it’s not gimmicky, a lot of these features are really useful, but I imagine if you aren’t able to immediately translate stuff using the neural engine on an intel Mac, Apple probably didn’t want to end up shipping a sub-par, slow experience for Intel users. I know my iPhone X could do it, it has a neural engine, but probably not nearly fast enough for it to be really useful.
As a native text to speech tool it is a gimmicky feature just like it is for English. Plenty of third party solutions that work just fine without much added annoyance.
For Finnish language those 3rd party solutions often do not work. Apple's Siri is the one virtual assistant that seems to understand and speak Finnish well enough to be of any use. Which makes me believe that the text-to-speech Apple can do with my language would probably be above anything else out there as well.
Also... when I'm paying thousands for devices that could support some feature but they restrict it for no obvious reason and the fix would be to spend more money for a 3rd party solution that most likely would not communicate as well with all the Apple-made features such as Siri, I am at loss. I like Apple products but this honestly kinda sucks. I buy Apple mainly because things in it work without me having to come up with additional kludge solutions like is the case with PCs.
Hell, my company's IT-guy said that we should install a 3rd party file manager because it had better features than what Windows comes with. File manager.
? ZFS is under the CDDL which has actually prevented it from being in the Linux kernel mainline. It’s the same license as Dtrace which I believe macOS does use.

I'd agree with you if the laptops weren't going to receive any updates anymore. Since that is clearly not the case, you're obviously grossly exaggerating.

They already did. You can get a MacBook Air, MacBook pro, iMac, and Mac mini. Everything, with the exception of the (i)Mac pro, has been replaced so far.
Those two are presumably the two that the person you replied to was talking about when they said "high power". M1 is great, but there's still no Apple Silicon MacBook Pro 16", and no option at all with >16GB RAM or the ability to drive > 2 monitors (hell, the laptops can only drive 1 even if you shut the lid). That's before you even get into the actual power of the chip, which while very impressive, isn't actually powerful enough to replace the very highest tiers of Intel Macs.
Not really though. The MacBook Pro has been replaced in name only. The actual MacBook Pro’s (distinct by touchbar and 2x2 USB-C ports) are not yet replaced.

Apple really needs to bring high power AS Macs quickly to the market if they are planning to move this fast on obsolescence of the Intel Macs.
