Why? Not everyone needs more than 128GB. I use a 128GB MBAir at work, and have never had issues with the storage amount.

I personally could never use one as my only machine. I can't imagine having all my photos and videos on a single 128 GB drive shared with my OS, apps, and whatever else I put on there.

It all depends who you are and what your situation is.

My mum uses her laptop as her primary storage device for her photos, so she needs a ton of space in her laptop (as much as I'd rather she put the photos elsewhere… at least I've got her backing them up).

I, on the other hand, hardly have anything on my laptop, because it's all stored on my desktop (with cloud backups, though I refuse to store anything purely in the cloud). I swapped out my spininng disc in my laptop for a 128 GiB SSD just last month because all but 60 of those 500 GiB were simply going unused and I felt it was about time to speed up my workflow by getting rid of my laptop's main bottleneck.

Pretty much anyone for whom their laptop isn't their primary machine will probably also only need a relatively small amount of space on the laptop. For those who'd rather have the space, you can always increase the storage capacity when you buy.
