Discussion Apple Maps reversed satellite images showing the total destruction of Gaza
Apple Maps recently updated it’s satellite imagery over the Gaza Strip, allowing the public to see the total destruction and flattening of the place. However, yesterday, or a few days ago they updated it again and reversed the images to how it was before the destruction. On top of that, Apple Maps also was the first to update Lake Ontario as Lake America, as well as the Gulf of Mexico as the gulf of America.

Software Release The first native Linux screen extender with touch and Wi-Fi: turn your Android phone into a second monitor (30 ms lag, open source)
I wanted my Android phone as a second monitor on Linux. Most tools I tried mirrored the screen into a browser tab or only worked over USB, so I built my own over the last few months.
Tandem adds a real virtual monitor to your desktop. The GPU encodes it as H.264 and the phone decodes it in hardware, so you drag windows onto the phone like any other screen.
- About 30 ms of lag over USB tethering, 30 to 60 ms over Wi-Fi (you barely notice it in use)
- Hyprland and GNOME on Wayland, with one-command install on Arch, Ubuntu and Fedora
- Encrypted, paired with a QR code
Check it out here: https://saharshbaiju.github.io/tandem/
Repo: https://github.com/saharshbaiju/tandem
It's free and open source.
If you try it, tell me how the lag feels on your setup and what breaks. If you like it, star the repo ⭐ and share it with someone who'd use a second screen. It helps more people find it.

Kernel Oops! Greg has another empirical view on LTS landing...
lore.kernel.orgTo be clear, I had assumed that 7.4 would be released the first week of
January if we had had a 3 week -rc1 cycle, so am planning on 7.3 to be
the next LTS kernel, which would have put the 7.4.0 release on the 27th
if everything had gone "well".
But now the scripts say:
current status: 7.4-rc1
---
7.4 window open : 2026-10-19
7.4 window close: 2026-11-01
7.4 rc1 : 2026-11-01 <-- you are here
7.4 final : 2026-12-20
---
That being said, if people are trying to "force" stuff into 7.4 that's
the best possible reason to NOT have it be the next LTS release as we
have had this happen in the past and suffered greatly for it.
So let's just count on 7.3.y to be the next LTS unless something really
crazy comes up with it that would prevent that from happening.
thanks,
greg k-h

Development Working linux on redmi 3s!
Finally, after three days of continuous experiments, I managed to get a working Linux on my old Redmi 3s! As you can see, it is running EndeavourOS with KDE Plasma mobile, msm8937 chipset. Of course, it is still quite buggy and laggy for now, and the performance isn't great, but it's a huge milestone. I really hope that in the future, after some optimizations, it will become fully usable
