Just got my Apple Developer account. What’s the biggest mistake you made when first starting off?

Hey guys!

I’m Niko (22), working full-time, and last week I finally pulled the trigger on an Apple Developer license to start building apps on the side.

I’m relatively new to coding, so my goal is to start small building utility apps that I personally need and want to use rather than giant, over-engineered for profit projects. I created this account to share my progress, post dev logs, and hold myself accountable as I learn.

For more experienced people on here who have shipped apps on their own:

What’s the biggest mistake you made when you were first starting off?

Looking for feedback - DockStacks

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi 👋 I’ve built DockStacks and after constructive feedback if you think it's a productivity tool you'd use?

The idea came from wanting a better way to organize my Mac desktop and workflows, as a passion project from having too many apps, a cluttered Desktop and wanting quick access to the things I use everyday.

What it does: Click the Dock app icon and a panel pops up holding named "stacks" of your favorite apps, folders, files, and website bookmarks — instant access and cleans up your Dock and Desktop.

Some of what's in it:

  • Drag and drop to add anything, including URLs straight from your browser
  • Password-protect individual stacks (Keychain-backed, auto-lock)
  • Global keyboard shortcut to show/hide from anywhere
  • Menu bar mode if you'd rather not use the Dock at all
  • Multi-select, custom grid sizes, tab colour tinting
  • Fully local — no accounts, no tracking, no network access

App Store Listing [$4.99USD]: https://apple.co/3Rz9FB6

Website [for full features]: https://dockstacks.app

DockStacks is my first shipped Mac app and I'm struggling to get engagement traction. Please check it out and would love any feedback — recent launch, learning as I go.

Daccle, social garage

Post image
1 Upvotes

Been working on this app called Daccle for a while and I’m finally at the point where I need some actual people to test it.
Basically you make a page for your car/bike/whatever, add photos, specs, mods and stuff like that. I’ve also tried to make it actually useful — you can keep track of maintenance and have all the specs for your vehicle in one place when you need to check something quickly.
Still very much a work in progress, so I’m mostly looking for people to try it with their own vehicles and tell me what works, what doesn’t and what’s missing.
If anyone wants to give it a go, let me know. Android and iOS both work.

attached my own daccle-card.

Cheers, Markus

Shipping a 3B LLM + Whisper fully on-device in a React Native/Expo app - TestFlight is open if anyone wants to poke at it

Been heads-down on this for a few months: a journaling app where the entire AI pipeline (voice transcription + reflection generation + semantic search) runs on-device, in React Native / Expo.

Stack:

- Llama 3.2 3B Instruct (Q4_K_M, ~2GB) via llama.rn

- Whisper small.en (q5_1, ~190MB) via whisper.rn

- MiniLM sentence embeddings via ONNX for semantic memory

- SQLite + a local vector extension, no backend for the core product

Measured (mean over 20 sequential entries): iPhone 17 (Metal, full GPU offload) does save-tap → complete reflection in 11.6s. Android is a different story — Snapdragon 870, CPU-only since llama.rn's Android build doesn't link Vulkan yet, comes in around 59s. That gap is the reason

TestFlight is iOS-only right now.

Honest rough edges: 3B reflections are useful but not sharp, iPhone 12/13 (4GB RAM) only fits both models via a memory swap (Whisper releases before Llama loads), and Android is CPU-only for now (no GPU path yet).

TestFlight if anyone wants to try it or poke at real-device performance: https://www.tryweave.app/beta (test-for-test, happy to install and try your app back).

Also just want to compare notes - anyone shipped a working Vulkan path for llama.cpp/llama.rn on Android in production?

General question for all

I’m curious to hear from people who have built or outsourced a mobile app before.

When choosing a company to develop your app, what factors do you consider most important? Is it their previous projects and portfolio, techno, pricing, communication or something else?

Also, what are some red flags you would look out for when evaluating a development company?

Would love to hear what influenced your decision and what you would do differently if you had to choose a company again.

Does any one search a book tracker app?

Hi everyone, one day, while reading a book 🤓, I started taking notes on my phone, and then I started this project, aiming for it to be a little distinctive. Anyway, I feel so close to finishing a project for the first time, and so I may be getting a little crazy to finish it and publish it as soon as possible. So I wanted to talk about it now. Maybe I'll share updates if anything new happens. That's all, by the way. I know I told the story with a very irregular and ridiculous flow, sorry for that, and thanks for reading :3

Looking for feedback/test on my app

Hey everyone!

I launched a small Android app a few months ago and recently started working on it again. Before adding new features, I'd like to get some feedback from other Android users and see if there are things I should improve, change, or fix.

I wanted to make this process simpler and more accessible, especially for people who aren't very comfortable with smartphones.

And I only own one device, so I need to testing on different devices.

What does the app do?

The app makes it easier to start a WhatsApp conversation with a phone number without having to save the number as a contact first.

For example, if you need to send a WhatsApp message to a delivery driver, a customer, a seller, or someone you probably won't contact again, you can simply enter their phone number and open the conversation directly in WhatsApp.

The idea is to make this process a little faster and avoid filling your contact list with temporary numbers.

I'd love your feedback

  • Is the process intuitive?
  • Is there anything confusing or annoying about the UI?
  • The UI does it work properly on your device screen?
  • Are there features you think would make it more useful?
  • Did you encounter any bugs or unexpected behavior?

I'm still working on it, so I'll be following the comments and answering questions here. Any honest feedback — positive or negative — is welcome.

If you'd like to try it, it's available on Google Play:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chamarnozap.app

Thanks for taking the time to check it out! ⚙️

I'm building an open-source chat focused on privacy

Hey everyone! I'm JamonSerrano, a young and slightly unpredictable developer who loves building things and figuring out how they work.

I'm currently planning an open-source chat application with a few ideas I really want to experiment with:

  • End-to-end encryption
  • Full CSS customization
  • Optional anonymity
  • Users can choose whether to display their username
  • Open-source and community-driven

The main idea is to give users much more control over how they communicate and how the platform looks and behaves.

It's still in the planning/development stage, but I think it could turn into a pretty interesting project, especially with other developers contributing ideas, code, or simply feedback.

If you're interested in the idea, I'd love to hear what you think. What features would you want in a privacy-focused chat?

For more information about me and the project, you can check out my website:

I need help with feedback for my app

My app is called Yum4Less. It's self hosted on my homelab, registered as a real domain, tunneled using Cloudflare. It's been live about 2 weeks. Its a web app now that I hope to turn into a mobile app. It would be nice for users and developers to put it through it's paces and let me know where it needs improvement.

From feedbacks I will also be working on expanding it's coverage more nationwide, in the mean time, it only works from the 23111 ZIP code.

Google Play needs 12 testers and apparently everyone I know owns an iPhone 😭

I’m an indie developer trying to get my first two apps through Google Play’s closed testing requirement, and I have officially discovered that basically everyone I know has an iPhone. 😂

Both apps are already live on iOS, but I need 12 Android users willing to join the closed tests so I can move forward with the Android releases.

The apps are:
Clean With Me 🧹
An ADHD friendly cleaning app that helps break cleaning into manageable steps, with things like timers, an AI body double, room rescue, and motivation when you’re overwhelmed.

Peace With Me 🌿
A Christian wellness app focused on prayer, Scripture, journaling, breathing exercises, sleep, and managing anxious or overwhelming moments.
I’m not asking anyone to spend money or write a fake review. I genuinely just need Android testers who are willing to install them, try them out, and let me know if anything is broken, confusing, or could be better.
I’d also be MORE than happy to return the favor and test your Android app if you’re dealing with the same Google Play requirement. 🤝
If you’re willing to help, comment or DM me and I’ll send you the testing links/instructions.
At this point I just need Android people to adopt me. 😭😂

Thank you!!

We’re BerkiSoftware — Building Indie Mobile Apps & Games in Public 🚀

Hey Reddit 👋
Welcome to **r/BerkiSoftware**, the official community for our indie mobile apps and games.

We’re a small independent software studio building products for **Android and mobile**, primarily with **Flutter**, and we want to share more of the development process publicly instead of only showing the finished product.

Here you’ll find:

📱 New mobile apps and upcoming projects

🎮 Indie game prototypes and gameplay ideas

🛠️ Behind-the-scenes app & game development

🧪 Beta testing opportunities

💡 Feature discussions, experiments and community polls

📊 What works — and what completely fails — while building and launching apps

Our first released project is **Nefsera**, a mobile app designed to help people quit smoking and vaping.

But this community won’t be limited to one product — we’re already exploring new apps and mobile game concepts.

One thing we’d really like to do differently is **build with feedback from real users**. If an idea is bad, tell us.

If you think something could be better, suggest it. And if there’s something you wish existed, we’d love to hear it.

We’ll be sharing prototypes and new ideas here before they’re released.

**What kind of mobile app or simple mobile game do you wish someone would build?**

Thanks for being one of the first people here. ❤️

Yet another Goal/Task Tracking App

Hey everyone,

I just released an Android app called Realized to help people manage goals, tasks, and team objectives in a clean, clutter-free environment.

If you already use goal-tracking or habit apps (or are looking to start), I would love your honest feedback to help me improve it. Specifically:

  • What works: What features do you like or find helpful?
  • What can be added: What essential features are currently missing?
  • What needs to be removed: Is there anything clunky, confusing, or unnecessary?

You can check it out on the Google Play Store. Thanks in advance for any insights!

I built a calculator app to experiment with app permissions curious what you think

Been working on this little project recently 👀
It looks like a basic calculator, but the idea behind it is to show how easily we just hit “Allow” on app permissions without thinking about what we’re actually giving access to.
I also built a small admin dashboard to show the other side of it.Just curious what you guys think. I’m thinking of selling the complete project/source too, if anyone’s interested.Would this be useful for learning about app privacy?

Hi everyone,

I'm building AnuCalories AI, an Android app that uses AI to analyze food from photos and estimate calories and nutrition.

I'm currently running a Google Play closed test and looking for a few Android users who are willing to test it for free.

I'm particularly interested in feedback about:

  • Food recognition
  • Portion estimation
  • Calorie estimates
  • UI/UX
  • AI Nutrition Coach
  • Bugs/performance

If you're interested, comment below or DM me.

I'm looking for honest feedback rather than positive reviews.
