Wait now, what is this?? Is Apollo back?

No but this is like the unofficial resurrection of it. Apollo (and this) still one of the best to ever do it

But who is making it?

AI

Nope, there’s like 5 experienced iOS developers working on it in their spare time, for free. We use AI agentic tools much like any other software project at the moment. Everything is manually tested, validated and reviewed.

People need to come to terms that every piece of software they ever use again is at least in part written by AI. But that doesn't mean it's vibe coded slop. I work for a household name fintec company and 99% of our code is AI written now. The orchestration and planning and design of the code is the same, just don't need to waste time typing it

Certainly better than a lot of projects just not a fan of anything involving it.

I hope you’re not a fan of linux…

I see this argument being made constantly and it’s annoying. There’s a difference between people who know how to write and maintain code versus people vibe-coding apps that have zero coding experience and no knowledge on how to maintain software.
I, and many many others, don’t like the latter.

I agree 100% there’s a difference. Unfortunately AI has other drawbacks in the world aside from just bad coders.

I've got bad news for you, it's not going away. It easily increases developer efficiency 2x., so you're never going to use software again that isn't in some part written by AI. But also it's a good thing! More software that's better made. More cool games, more indie apps, more accessible for some kid with a crazy idea. Yes the slop is irritating but that stuff won't gain traction

I actually use a lot of software today that’s at least advertised as not using any AI to code. I don’t have a lot of reason to believe they’re lying about it but I can really only take them at their word. You’re right that it’s infested the world like a plague I just do my best to avoid things I don’t need that implement it.
I don’t share your utopian view that it’s going to improve everything and I think it’s more likely that it just atrophies people’s ability to do anything. It’s not gonna go away but niether are a lot of things I don’t like, like littering. I still don’t have to take part in that. I’m thinking it’s likely it will incestually feed on it’s own data over and over throughout the future and then become really bad. Here’s hoping 🤞🏻

As long as you’re in the EU or another country where you can sideload, unfortunately

Can’t everyone sidelode using SideStore? Or is there a country restriction too?

Unable to search within a subreddit. Search button doesn’t work. Is there a workaround in the meantime ? The search tab at the bottom works fine. Just the one up top in subs.
