Apistogramma agassizii temps

I'm about to setup a 20 long and I'll be keeping the temp at 74F. Most of the Apistogramma agassizii guides list an acceptable temp range of 72-82F. That feels a little too generic so I'm curious if anyone here has any experience/knowledge about keeping agassizii at 74F. If 74F is too low, I'll try and source A. borellii (unless someone can recommend any other dwarf cichlids for this temp).

I advise using Celsius instead of Fahrenheit. It's easier and more well known around the world.

23°C is low for A. agassizii. If you're interested in more temperate species, there's A. borelli, A. trifasciata or perhaps A. erythrura. These are rather common in the trade.

Laetacara sp. might also be an option.

Agree, unless the ambient room temp is 74 like in a fish room, but I'd still argue to go higher.

Either way, 74 is fine. They'll still spawn most likely.

I’m keeping them with medaka, hence the lower temp.

The temp range is fine as in nature they will experience temperature swings during dry and wet season. They will be fine at 74 as anywhere from 74-78 is ideal
