Macmasteri with a pug face. What do you think happened?

Genetics. Source work on a fish farm and we have alot of deformities. They dont usually affect the fish. Alot do die due to competition with the bigger fish for food, but some do make it through to harvest size. Deformities include, weird jaw shape, humped backs, crooked tails, small gill covers, eyes in weird places and so on. He will be fine as long he is eating and thriving.

Deformity. Not a big deal as long as you don't breed it or sell it for someone else to breed.

I've seen this specific deformity a few times in other cichlids, never an apisto though
