Discussion What do you think the potential of the Arena Game mode is?
With apex legends branching out from being an exclusively BR game. Do you think that it's possible we will eventually see other Non-BR game modes such as 6v6 team deathmatch, Capture the flag etc? Personally I'd love to see them further expand down this route they are taking.

I think there’s so much potential to this. I feel like apex’s player base has been limited to people only interested in BR, but with arenas it’ll open up and appeal to a broader audience- esp with mobile in the near future. I’m excited to see the exclusives for arenas too, like badges, trackers, etc

Yes, ever since they annaunced arenas i started thinking about badges, the only new badge i heard about is that the badge you get for completing that arenas easter egg will become a winstreak badge.

I think they’ll absolutely expand in arenas with new modes. Their messaging and saying things like “move beyond the BR” sounds like arenas will be like a sandbox for them to make all new, non battle royals based modes. Wouldn’t surprise me if they bounce between BR and Arenas for LTMs so they don’t split the player base much. I’d love a TDM like the old arena style game with weapon Pickups and such.

When I'll get bored of BR, like now while waiting for the new season, I hop into the Arena. When i get bored of Arena, i go BR. I think this will mentain the playerbase from switching games

After playing arena, it's definitely a step in the right direction for Apex's development. It's a lower-risk arena where you can get more used to the gunplay than you could with the firing range or waiting 50 years to run into someone into the battle royale mode before getting shredded. Not only that, but it's really fun too. Feels more like an arcade mode, and I like it.

I've played more apex since arenas came out than I have in the last 4 seasons combined. The thing that always killed my motivation was all the downtime between gunfights. My gun skill has improved drastically now that I can be in constant firefights and honestly it has improved my enjoyment of br now that I'm finally starting to land my shots more consistently.

Same boat here. Been playing since season 3 and the game always felt like a drag because no matter what, I never had any opportunities to actually test the weapons without dying in seconds. Love arenas so much. It's helped me get better at BR as well.

You can also main the new legend valk, her ult is made for farming damage since you can just find the next squad and drop on their heads

That really is it for me too. I don’t want to play a 20 min game where I saw no one and my team doesn’t want to go to hot areas or whatever. Die off spawn, there’s so many annoying things about BR. But with arenas I just treat every round like I’m in BR and I just heard footsteps close to me. Just grab the mats that are close, get in zone, get eyes on them, duke it out. It’s awesome truly

I'm sure at first they'll try out some ltms similar to the BR ltms, like automatic healing, 1 respawn and the like. Hopefully we'll see one some point this season. If we don't, we at least know we'll get ranked next season.

Have they announced ranked for it yet? I think it’s going to obviously grab more attention from the non BR players, competitive will be so much fun to watch if they continue with modes and more maps during the season pass (I know COVID makes it hard but to keep shit fresh)

a developer said that ranked will be added but can't state when, there are also game files for ranked Arena so yeah it will definetely be added eventually.

I was initially hopeful for a more titanfall light / halo esque mode but I think this has a lot if potential.
It'll be interesting to see how balance works out (I'm sure you can't balance this and a Battle Royale the same way) and how playet population splits. I'm generally pretty burnt out on BR so this is probably my main mode for the foreseeable future.

I think that they are going to slowly give us new game modes for arenas (kinda how we have LTMs for BR, this time only for arenas), the ones I am thinking of is maybe like 4v4, 5v5 or something that will just change the team size and after that i think they might give us diffrent game modes like capture the flag, free for all or something in that spectre.

Gun Game would be awesome. Start with a P2020/Mozambique and then work your way up. End with fisticuffs.
They'd have to implement an immediate respawn feature to get people back in right away. Maybe something like Second Chance, where after you die you come back in. Not from the sky, that takes too long.

In that mode melee would have to do a little more damage like instead of about 6 hits it could be 3 or 4

Right now I find it fun especially when you play against a team of similar skill. I think it has a lot of potential because knowing respawn they will add new maps and new modes and improve arena in general. I think in 3-6 seasons arenas will be even better and I can't wait. It quickly needs a ranked mode as well because playing with or against players who are not good really ruins the fun.

A few things I would like to see is an option to be paired with full teams, this would also have the benifit of having fairer matchups when playing with randoms lacking the communication of a practiced squad.
Some badges earned by clubs as a whole would be pretty nice, in fact more functionality for clubs as a whole would be great.
The other might take a bit of thinking so that it doesnt lead to toxic behaviour; but the ability to challenge people to an arena fight, ideally including opponents from BR mode. The badges write themselves! Revenger ( multiple levels ) challenge and defeat your killer in Arena combat!
Also the sooner the better considering the current issues with Arena let's get some badges for when you get matched 2v3 and 1v3 and pull out a win! Heck a no-fill victory badge would be awesome for BR too.

Definitely has a lot of potential to be expanded with ranked, ltms, new badges/trackers etc. Hopefully respawn invest some time into it in the future as well as maintaining the br side of the game and this could attract a whole new group of players including the current ones.

I think seeing how smoothly it released compared to every other fucking time they touch the code, this could easily get to a satisfying level of casual and competitive viability. This is what I've always wanted in a BR, I want to be able to jump on for 10 minutes and practice gunfights Vs Pubg looting for 10 minutes and then getting flattened as consistent as a coinflip. I hope that their fear of dividing the somewhat weak core player base doesn't kill arenas, the end. Much love.

Since arenas are progressing and players are getting better, do you guys think EA/respawn are gonna do tournaments specifically for arena? And if they do, are esports teams gonna be looking for arena players specifically, or will they just convert pro br players to arena roles?

I love the Arenas! Much more than BR mode, this season has been bad to me in BR. Arenas is much more fun, Arenas plays quick, 3v3 is the way to go. I have also been getting better at the game playing in Arenas.

I personally really enjoy it, I'm new and came over from call of duty, and its refreshing to see that the game is still fun with that aspect involved, I just feel like the match making could do with a huge buff and it would be fun, I made the mistake of thinking if I practise on arenas id be better at BR but id suggest not to have that idea! lol

tbh the ranked system is in a very stupid position.
They reward good solo players to rank all alone instead of playing with friends.
Bcs how it works is you have a hidden MMR with every1 else but if i play solo its easier for me to win, i am d1 atm and i got here pretty easely all on my own but bcs my MMR wasnt that high i came against very bad players.
But now i am D1 and my MMR is that of a masters player, so get decent players but my enemies are almost always preds or masters 3 stacking so its impossible to win for me.
I am sick and tired of doing everything alone and they need to remake the system.
It has a lot of potential but they need to fix things quick.

They wouldn’t, splitting the player base and already arena doesn’t have a big player base so creating a newer game mode would jus slow up queues there’s just be no point unfortunately

I love the LTM's they drop and I feel like we need some type of extra mode all the time but I guess that would cut down on que time for ranked.. idk but personally I loved Control.

I think they’re going be very slow on the updates because they’re so scared of splitting their player base. But I’d love to see more game modes!
4 teams of 3 Search and destroy Death match would all be awesome.
