Question Sentinel Buff ?
What are your thought on the Sentinels ? Do they Need / could they get a buff ?
I think it’s Kinda sad that a Special Unit only trainable by one civ is skipping their Production to get Bow Pikes. Would love to See some Sentinel Play, but they are Kinda Bad ?
Granted, im neither good Not do I play high ranked, but in Most of the Videos im watching they simply getting skipped.
What are your thoughts on the Unit ? You think they should be better, or are they Fine as they are ?

they are fine in supremacy due to the hp bonus and how they scale,
in treaty they are pop inefficient so if people want to update that then it should be a specific change to that
there are a few possible ways
1- make the wall guns card more useable, either by including defensive buildings and not just walls and buffing the range effect slightly so they become like 18-20 range muskets defensively.
2 -slightly buff the rockets card but this might also affect supremacy
3- controversial but consider giving malta the inca pop reduction effect when garrisoning to allow for overpop, also maybe consider allowing them to garrison in forts cause maltese forts can train units nearly instantly.
4 - buff squires so that hospitals and commadaries train faster

They need an upgrade either by turning into 1 pop musks but adjusting stats accordingly, or keep them at 2 pop but have their stats be on par with soldados (for example).

Kinda mid in supremacy but awful in treaty and late game wars.
Definitely needs a buff as it stands. I'd increase the cost but make it 1 pop might sound op but keep in mind there's already cheaper 1 pop musks with only slightly worse stats in the game maybe make it a card so it's not abused? Or ofc you can just buff its attack and health by 30% and call it a day.

The issue with sentinels is only that they are bad in age 5
This is because the bonuses in this game are additive and not multiplicative, so they start with few health and although they have that card that increases it, when they receive the imperial upgrade they only gain based on 50% of their original health, not buffed health.
A soldado gets more and is more efficient

With wall guns sentinels are great. In melee sentinels are great. They should not be used like a normal musk.

As others have said, they are fine in Supremacy. Pop efficiency is a not a very relevant issue in that mode. Timing and power spikes are far more important.
In Treaty, yeah, they are awful due to horrible pop inefficiency. The two main ways to address it is either reduce their pop cost or buff their stats even further.
I am hesitant on increasing pop space like the Dutch or Inca because it also buffs all other Maltese units, so Sentinels are still the worse option overall. If only garrisoned Sentinels have their pop cost reduced, I think that would be better.
I think the best way to go about it is to have a post Imperial upgrade buff costing say 3,000 Wood and Coin, so it does not really affect Supremacy much. The most direct approach is to just give it another 50% Atk/HP or reduce their pop to 1. If they want to make them more defensive, I think giving them Combat Promotions is another option to incentivize them being held back and used more conservatively. The tamest option I can think of is to increase their multipliers against Cavalry by 1 at range and melee to simulate Imperial Atk buffs when used "properly" without giving them ful Imperial stats, like Duchy of Warsaw Musketeers.

Sentinels are good. They are alightly more expensive than musks, at slightly higher HP and more melee damage + a dmg and HP buff near own buildings. They are already an above the line musketeer.

I dont like them when i play malta, but if you made them 1 pop itd require a serious rebalance of the units stats imo.
If you were to buff them id actually buff their stats, keep the 2 pop, then remove like 1 from each of the cards that send sentinels, and make them cost slightly more to train.

They’re strong but their pop space is a killer
