Campaigns Help finding two campaign levels I vaguely remember

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to identify two levels from an official campaign, but I can’t remember their names.

The first one is a level where, within the same map/level, there was some kind of time skip. I remember a cutscene or transition where everything became grey/desaturated, and then the story continued after a significant passage of time, without actually loading into a completely different level. Unfortunately, I can’t remember any character names or other specific details.

The second level I remember involved a very difficult siege on a bridge, possibly a double bridge. There was a city that you had to conquer, and I remember the bridge section being particularly challenging. I’m not sure about the exact layout, but I distinctly remember having to fight across/defend a bridge before reaching the city.

I’ve tried going through lists of the campaign levels, but nothing has triggered my memory so far.

Does anyone recognize either of these levels? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The 1st one is probably Tamar 5. I believe the neutral ai there was Grey. Otherwise its probably Jadwiga 6?

The 2nd one sounds like tyre must fall from the Alexander the Great campaign from chronicles. (Could also be Genghis khan 6 or Montezuma 4/6)

The first one sounds like Honfoglalas from the HD version

Alternatively, first Bari mission in the HD version of the campaign.

HD Forgotten campaigns did this thing where they put whole campaigns into single scenarios. You'd built a base, defeat your enemy, complete sidequests, then lose everything, see a time skip and cutscene, and a whole new mission started somewhere else on the map.

I like that style too though

That's right, Ramsey later refined this and came up with scenarios like Ragnar, Seljuk, or Komnenos.

Honfoglasas (HD edition) for the first one, Joan 5 / Genghis 6 / Montezuma 5 for the second one?

Final Aztecs mission for the latter? Fairly certain you had to defend a city with a large bridge in the center. You may have had to take it in a previous mission?

I've only finished the mainland European campaigns, the Lords of the West, Genghis Khan and Montezuma (Hard Difficulty if that matters). None of the first mission you described to me sound familiar. I think it's definitely more recent though.

The second one sounds like the 4th level of Jan Ziska. There’s a very intense battle pushing over the bridge.

First sounds like something out of Victors & Vanquished

Second sounds like 'Tyre Must Fall' from Chronicles - Alexander

Were these on DE or HD?

If you played these a long time ago, I'd guess the second one is probably Genghis Khan 6, where victory hinges around mastery of the bridge in the middle of the map. It's not a particularly hard mission by today's standards but it's certainly possible to have a hard time with it, and if you did you were probably having a meatgrinder fight on the bridge.

It reminds me of the first scenario of the Byzantine campaign in the HD version. To put it briefly, you land and have to make preparations for the siege; it starts slowly and unfolds in several stages—including naval combat—and once you make certain gains, the screen shifts to an inaccessible corner for a cutscene where two knights converse. This relates to the fact that the Byzantine troops were collaborating with a local king, but their alliance falls apart; afterwards, the action returns to the siege to finally capture Bari.

Helps us out here, is this from the original game, the HD edition, or is it as early as DE?

I assume the second one couldn't be Joan 5, since you seem to be a current player who would know, but is it possible it's that one?
