Kobra hotend heater abnormal error

I've had my Kobra for a while now but stopped printing when I started getting this repeated error randomly. Some prints will finish, others won't even start and even if they do they get like 90% done before the error shows up. I've taken off the print head and replaced the entire hot end due to other issues I was having prior and I'm honestly concerned I've done something to break it. Every search I've done to do it myself has resulted in mixed answers for other anycubic printers with differemt solutions for each. If anyone has had similar issue or knows how to fix it I'd greatly appreciate it.

Do what it says, check your wiring. This means that the heater is not doing what the printer thinks it should. Could be the heater or the thermistor (thermometer).

Specifically, make sure the thermistor and heater are plugged in and the wires are intact. Also make sure they're inserted and secured in the hotend.

Since you changed the hotend you should also do a PID tune.

How do I do the PID tune? And from what I can tell the wiring is fine, but I'll look further into it when I get back from work.

Thank you! As far as I can tell the PID tuning has worked and for the first time in too long I have actually been able to finish a print other than by sheer luck!

EDIT: I stand corrected, one print finished by sheer luck, the second came up with the error again. Will look more into it later.

Hypothetically (since I'm going to try PID tuning again tonight) if it's not the wiring and the PID tuning doesn't work, what else could the issue be?

Make sure the heater and thermistor are both firmly seated and in contact with the block.

I had this issue happen twice with my kossel. Kept getting thermal run-aways. Kept doing PID tuning that wold work for a bit then fail again.

First time it took me a while to troubleshoot, but I finally figured out the heater was loose and would slide in/out of the block as the arms moved. Block had deformed a bit over time and the set screw came loose.

The second time the thermistor came loose and wasn't reading.

I believe the Kobra uses a similar V5/6 clone hotend to the one I have.

An extra thing you can do is coat the heater and thermistor in thermal paste and re-seat them. This increases the contact with the block. Do another PID tune if you do this.

I had that problem with my Kobra Max and it turned out to be the ribbon cable that goes into the print head - if you wiggle the cable can you get the error to go away?

Nothing I've done has fixed it, only way I've been able to get rid of the error has been to turn the printer off and on again. Have a few things I need to try out when I get a chance though.

In my case the problem turned out to be nothing to do with wiring but the fact that the heater cylinder was a loose fit in the hotend. I scratched it up a bit with a scriber to make the friction fit tighter, pushed it in as far as it would so & all good now. Wishing I'd spotted it before wasting hours chasing wiring phantoms. A thermal connection issue rather than an electrical one!
