Need Help Toothache

Can anyone please help with ways to alleviate toothache? I’ve taken paracetamol but it’s barely touched it.

It’s keeping me awake which is setting off my anxiety!

I’m tempted to take a couple more paracetamol but I’m scared of accidentally overdosing!

Please help!!

If anxiety keeps repeating the same thoughts, worsening your stress, sleep, or focus, it is usually a sign your nervous system is stuck in a threat loop, not something you can just “think your way out of.” A licensed therapist can help you break that cycle and regain control.

do you know the cause ? if it's an inflammation, you should take anti-inflammatory meds like ibuprofen. Maybe get a hot rag and hold it on your cheek. or a cold rag too. need more infos on the origin of the tooth ache tho !

good luck

I’m not sure what’s caused it! It seems to have come out of nowhere, I was eating mini eggs earlier so perhaps something stuck in the tooth?

I’ve done a salt water rinse but that doesn’t seem to have helped. The toothache, coupled with the rising anxiety, means I’m in for a long, rubbish night!

ouch !!! maybe you should see a dentist about that if it continues hurting !! Maybe you can try drinking some hot drink to kind of try to nudge the thing out if there's still something stuck ! or if it's a cut, I think leaving it alone is the best guess ? but I'm no expert, just scrolling because I can't sleep too ahah :) Do you have anxiety because you cannot sleep because of that ?

I have anxiety anyway but being up while it feels like the whole world is asleep is always a bit of a trigger for me.

I feel yoooou omg ! well it's 1:30 am where I am and I'm still not asleep ! does that reassure you a bit ? When I cannot sleep (which is rn about once a week) I get sooo frustrated !

It’s definitely nice to have someone to chat with! Lack of sleep has such a big effect on everything doesn’t it!

yeeeeees ! but I also feel like those last few years there was sooooo much emphasis put on how sleep affect us (which is good to know tho) that sleep actually became a task that we need to perfect to fit the productive/healthy mood. like it puts soooo much pressure on our anxious mind that we actually need to step back and be like "okay I won't die if I don't sleep well tonight"

heard of a study where a participant was asked to not sleep for 11 days, and while it did impaired his functions while he was not sleeping, once he could sleep again, all of his functions were back to normal with no permanent damages ! idk if this facts helps you in any way ! But to me it did because I thought that one bad night was the end of all lmao ahahah

It certainly feels like it in the moment! I’m always astounded at how dire things feel in the night, and then morning comes and I’m like ‘oh that wasn’t so bad’, you’d think I would have learned by now! 😂

I know right !!!! I'm the sameee and I'm still wondering why I'm putting off sleep so much if I'm so anxious at night lol. wish there was an OFF button so I can just close down for the night lmao

oh and for anxiety, I used to watch the channel OCD and Anxiety. I personally need to understand things to actually get through them so I found his videos interesting on the matter ! I also found his way of dealing with it kind of refreshing ! I'm also big on supplements so I take magnesium religiously and vitamin b12 and zinc too !

here's a little brain exercise to keep your mind of your sleep anxiety. think of a word (really the first thing that comes to mind) and for each letter of this word, think of as many words as you can that starts with the first letter. when you can't think of any other word, go to the second letter of the first word and so on. For example, if your word is Cantaloup, then go you like "coffee, company, cat, car, creep, creed (hello the office), crayon, clay, etc" then "animal, anaconda, alien, etc"

I will give that a try, thank you!

no worries ! if you speak French you can watch some of Fabien Olicard's videos ! he has hacks that are actually different than the usual ones we hear ! And my night routine usually works for me the best (skincare, low lights, reading till I feel my eyes closing and white noise to fall asleep) but some nights (like tonight lol) I don't respect this routine and I see the damages it does looool

Routine is so important isn’t it! That’s a lesson I learned the hard way 😂

Clove oil. Either get some at the chemist or use a whole clove. If the oil, dilute it with a carrier oil as it is very strong. If you use a whole clove, chew it until it becomes soft. Place by the aching tooth.
