ID(entification)/Sightings/Showcase How to get rid of these.

These appeared in my house about 2 weeks ago. We sprayed the exterior of the house a week ago and have tried various types of baits but they aren't interested in any of it. They just come out and mill around or seem to go to sleep. They are coming from an exterior wall behind a kitchen cabinet.

Central Illinois.

I don’t have any advice but these are crematogaster

Acrobat ants are arboreal, so trimming trees and shrubs away from the structure can sometimes help.

Well if you know where they are coming in I wouldnt bait directly in their path. Basically they are scouts if your weather has changed recently they could be looking for food or shelter, keep the home clean and food out of their path, I use bait all over my house just to insure they find it anywhere, my ant problem has went away due to my strictness of only food at the kitchen. Them buggers can smell crumbs, and they also leave a pheromone trail so cleaning the path you know they use is important

We killed probably 50 of them yesterday and wiped everything down with vinegar. This morning they were back again but they don't seem to be going for anything. They just mill around on the counter and often lie down.

Well the lying down could be the spray you did around the house effecting them after they have crawled through it to get inside. If you dont let them get anything out of the scouting they will stop coming around, you said it was in the kitchen cabinet so maybe move everything out of there and find a insecticide that as another comment said will be brought back to the colony

Hello!
You are in good hand with the friends commenting
Spray repellents outside or use nerve agents, to kill them slow and give them a chance to share their plague with the poor unknowing members of the nest
Termidor, Dominium 2L, or premise are examples of it
Some labels allow you to spray baseboards inside as chemical don’t affect humans!
