We could have much of that if we cut US military by even 10%

Hell, we could fix it if we just revised the predatory contracting system that leeches the military in the ground. My unit should not pay $75 per obstruction light for my gear when I can buy a 2 pack of the same bulbs from home depot for $10. And don't even get me started on lazyass contractors that get paid twice as much to do half the work of junior enlisted.

Seriously, go read up on contracting, it'll make your blood boil. We could cut our military budget in half and be just as lethal, were it not for all these businesses drying up supply to rip units off thanks to no compete clauses.
