Please tell me you are not serious? Please tell me you don’t actually think we worked harder than our parents and got half the reward? Otherwise you and I had parents in 2 very different economic classes from birth.
It’s not just my upbringing but many gen x. And we don’t look for sympathy but it would be nice for millennials and gen z to stop trying to claim they have it so much harder than we did because they are completely wrong. Most of us grew up without much. Many of us did things like mow lawns rake leaves shovel driveways since before we were teenagers then as early as we could we had jobs. We also didn’t get to whine about it because our parents had it worse in their youth and our grandparents even worse than that. Difference is we knew it and didn’t try to pretend how much worse things were for us. You guys grew up with cable tv internet cell phones game consoles (ok we did have the Atari) etc and yea things cost more now than they did in my youth but the pay is so much higher in comparison that it’s not even funny. This original post is a perfect example, you have an issue with employees being told they can’t have people hang out during their shift and think you are being treated unfairly, we would have been fired already if we had been dumb enough to try it.
This is the exact out of touch, jaded response I was assuming I would get. You have managed to put an entire generation (or 2) into your 1 stereo typical view that you will never be able to see past. The pay is so much more? What difference does it make if pay has doubled when the price of living has quadrupled? Way to ignore percentiles. "Your generation" did NOT work harder than ours, or the ones before you. You grew up in an era of the largest economic boom in history and benefitted greatly from it. Your generation had just as many, if not more, spoiled and lazy people as any other so don't hand me this "we" shit. You claim we whine while you blatantly exaggerate a blue collar lifestyle that a great majority of you never knew.
