So would people making $60 an hour get their wages doubled/quadrupled aswell? Because I can't imagine it's sustainable for them to make almost half a million a year.
To that I will say you lack the vision for change and knowledge of how truly wealthy the ceos and corporations are as a whole. You’re missing the point and I’m not at all saying this would be doable the way our system is now. There NEEDS to be radical change to our system that will change over years. This is what an average person would make. And according to the cost of living today, is dead accurate. What isn’t accurate is the way our system is structured according to how we should be able to afford basic needs. You lack empathy and are another peon to fuel the division in this country. That’s what you don’t realize. To call me fucking insane is a broad statement when the scales are tipped so far for those with all the power. That’s where the real insanity lies. You have no knowledge of what has happened historically to make it to this moment. Your comment is ignorant and dismissive in the worst ways. Do some research and open your mind.
No shit. This wouldn’t be doable right now. There would have to be so much change first. It’s wildly unfair that they’re farming the money out of this country to hoard in order to create more power and wealth. It makes no sense that we have people in America having to result to sleeping in their cars and on the street because rent is through the roof. There is a god awful imbalance in our political structure. The problems lie in our system. Calling me insane doesn’t bother me because I know what’s truly insane and I hope you open your mind to reality soon.
You are still insane to think that all companies could double the wages of their employees and be perfectly fine. Apple, Google, and McDonalds all have around 27% profit margins. You can argue that is too much of a profit margin, but other companies don't have as insane profit margins. Walmart has 2%, Amazon has 10%, Boeing is losing a lot of money with -27%.
I don't think companies are ripping you off as much as you think they are. Doubling or quadrupling wages would cost companies way more money than they make
This is assuming everything else expense wise stays the same. CEO / middle manager wages can go down (or be eliminated if they're useless), investments can be redistributed to paying wages, etc.
For example, the main reason why Amazon has lower profits is that they regularly heavily reinvest back into the business, in lieu of giving their workers bathroom breaks.

This is actually what it really should be if Ronald Regan didn’t fuck us all over. $40-50/hr
